http://aaq.net.au/ I know people have also bought similar ones direct from China for cheaper but I wanted local support. I was building a new house so had the opportunity to form the cut outs when they slab was poured. They also have an above ground option. It has mechanical locks which require a compressor to disengage. The bits I have circled below rest against piece of metal when locked. To come down it goes up a bit to take off the tension, then a solenoid fires and lifts up that flap using the compressed air, then it comes down. I do wish that the first lock was lower. |

Mine came with similar beams. I haven't used them as the biggest car I've lifted is a 3 series.

Is there a manual override for the scissor locks? That would be a bit annoying to fire up the compressor (especially at night in the suburbs) to lower your car.
On the 2 post you just disengage the locks by hand, and it comes down silently which is great for resisdential use.

Why not run your compressor till its cuts, and then close all outlet valves. This leaves a full air tank for the night time lock release, it uses very little air to disengage. |

You kind of can manually do it (When I first set it up and had an air leak I propped up the flaps with little blocks of wood so it would go over the lock) but obviously not recommended. |

Hey you finally got your hoist!
Imagine if u had this from day one! Well all good things comes to those who wait and work hard for it. Btw how thick should your ground concrete slab be for them to install this? And do you plan to raise or renovate the roof of your existing garage (is it even possible or is the dwelling of it with the house?) |

The manual actually says 200mm minimum thickness which is ludicrously thick and if this was on the brochure they'd never sell any hoists. 100mm minimum thickness is more sensible. Roof of my garage could be raised, it's not attached to the house, it's something to think about for the future
Should swing by and have a look sometime!
