Sorry for reviving an old thread. I wanted to check and see if your sound ever went away or if it did eventually turn into to something worse? My car has recently started making almost the exact same sound and I'm starting to drive me self crazy with it. Doesn't matter if the car is cold or warm it will make that sounds and it comes and goes with no rhyme or reason.
Thanks, Garavion |

test drive
I looked at a 2013 X5 35i with the N55, and at cold start up, it had a light knocking sound. But it went away after 2 minutes or so.
It doesnt sounds like valve or lifters. It sounds more in front of the engine.. Not from the top for sure. The X5 has 94k miles. 1 owner car, so the owner just bailed on it. haha Wondering if this is anything major or not.. It's such a clean X5 too!! if anyone knows, please reply. thanks- Last edited by BlackX5; 02-28-2021 at 08:08 PM.. |

More prominent on the cold start, sometimes when warm at idle. No metal shaving of any kind in the oil filter. Stethoscope suggests that the noise is coming from injector #1. Started about 2+ years ago at 70K miles, today 87K miles. I assume if mine would of been rod knock the engine would of failed by now |
