If I get a 2007 E90 335 sedan, will the Samsung a990 work for bluetooth, it's not on BMW site, does anyone have it and compatible? This phone has all great features, thinking of getting it.

Hi,

Just got the new Motorola Krzr K1. It works perfectly with the BMW Bluetooth; address book transfers, makes and receives calls.

I think it's worth mentioning, that although a number of users have managed to get the Samsung E900 to work with their cars, having changed the handset 3 times I was unable to get this phone to work with my car on any occassion.

What did you do to get the address book to work? My KRZR connects, but it doesn't seem to be synching the data. I am using the Verizon version (K1m I believe) so i hope that it is not crippled.

I'm getting my Krzr K1m in a day or so, and just wanted to know what code you entered into your car to get the phone and car to sync. For my Razr I had trouble figuring this out until I saw somewhere on this forum that you use 0000. Is it the same for the Krzr? Thanks.

Not all phones work with e90 Bluetooth. Nextel i870 works only as speaker phone, it will not read phone's memory. BlackBerry 7100g will not work at all. BlackBerry 8700g works very well (unless you have lots of numbers saved in your BBerry)

Samsung D807 works very well. The phone pairs with the car and the phonebook transfers, but signal strength is not displayed.

When the error occurs, I simply reboot the phone and it pairs correctly. Once (yesterday in fact), rebooting the phone did not work and I had to wait until I got to where I was going to reboot the iDrive too. After that, all worked well too.

It is annoying, but I'm pleased with the phone overall and given that it mostly works, I'm keeping it for now. fwiw - I bought an unlocked phone from buy.com.
Cellphone Firmware update seems to fix this quirk.

W950i

Anyone tried the SonyErricson W950i?

I'm consider getting it, but I'm not sure if it will 100% work.

Any feedback would be great.
Thanks.

BT Compatibility Chart

My attempt to compile what i have gathered so far from this forum on BT functionality and compatibility. This is not 100% accurate so feel free to provide input in order to make this table more complete. Thanks.

I think that any Windows Mobile 5.0 powered device (PDA or smartphone) communicates fluently with the BT kit in BMW. This means call/hang-up, PB sync, caller-id, voice recog etc. Only thing I can get to work is signal strength icon and battery status... I'm not a technician but use this combo every day!

I can confirm BB 7290 works as well as any other BB -- meaning the phone book transfers and you can click on a phonebook entry to dial, or if a call that comes in is in your phone book, the name shows up on the screen, etc. Your chart doesn't reflect that. I think your chart is based on user experience before the phone (not car) firmware was updated sometime last year.

Will update. Thanks for feedback. What about dial by name with verbal training?

I haven't tried it yet because most every call I make is either in my Top 8 or I just say "Dial Number" and then say the number. The iDrive voice recognition for numbers works incredibly well.

For dial by name, the iDrive has this function, not the phone, right? I don't think my phone has this function without the car.

True. idrive has the dial by name functionality but also some phones have it and it is accessible via the blue-tooth connection. Basically your phone will match the name (voice) with an address book entry instead of idrive.

I traded my Nokia N73 (doesn't work at all) for a SE K800i, and the K800i links up with the BMW BT instantly, Phone Book and all! Just my $.02 worth.

As far as I know, my phone does not do that. Apologies for the late reply -- I just noticed this thread again.

No, that´s not correct at all. If a phone has any sort of dial by name capability, it is definitely not addressable via the car´s bluetooth system.
