New Jag XF Photos - What You Think?

Somewhat off topic I know, but what do you guys think of new XF photos?

http://www.motivemagazine.com/galler...F/2009-Present

My opinion - exterior pretty good, not so keen on the front though, doesn't quite gel. Interior - some v. nice touches; check out the rotary-style gear selector! Lighting looks cool. As for the gigantic wood slab on the rear door panels - . Ugh! If this car bombs, they're done for.

Hate to say this, but when I saw the side and rear pics I instantly thought 'Mondeo' As you say, interior has some really cool features. Not sure though.

As you say, the interior lighting is cool and the wheels are really nice. However, other than that it doesn't really do it for me.

The sculpted bonnet is nice, but the lumpy headlights remind me of the new Mondeo. The mesh grille is perhaps trying to emulate a Bentley, but makes it look more like a cheap far eastern car as it is neither deep enough to be either bold like a Bentley or shallow enough to follow the lines of the headlights, which are too shallow for this grille.

The gill at the rear of the front wing looks like a tacked on solution to a cooling problem rather than a styling element. The sharkfin is obviously a BMW rip-off.

Cover the badges up and I'd be thinking Mondeo or Hyundai, but not Jag.

As a previous Jag owner, very disappointing.

The interior has nice touches but the exterior is a bland, watered-down version of the XF Showcar.

I saw that in the flesh, up close at the Geneva Motor Show and that looked VERY, VERY good. Nicely agressive. Distinct.

They have gone all safe on the production model. Bland, no balls. At a time when they need to stamp out a real head turner.

They didn't do that over 50 years ago when they introduced the E-Type. They fucked-up big style by ditching the F-Type roadster a few years back to concentrate on the X-Type Estates etc. The F-Type would have sold.

Will have to wait to see the production XF on the road. Won't persuade me back to the fold, though.

Back looks like mondeo crossed with new A5. Front looks like some horrible Chrysler Neon/Subaru love child. Not impressed.

Looks slightly better "in the flesh" on the video but that front is seriously wrong... Looks like it was designed by committee with people from Volvo, Toyota, Chrysler and others all putting their two penneth in.

The front defo looks like some cheap korean Tat. I do quite like the back though.

Are you thinking of the old sonata dazzapb?

As an X-Type Estate owner (well my wife is) I can state, that with all the build quality issues that we've had leaking boot, faulty rear park sensors, faulty instrument cluster, blown turbo (@45K miles) they couldn't have concentrated much on the X-Type Estate I still don't know how the managed to take the Mondeo platform from Ford and create such a Turkey

I certainly won't be going back to Jag after we get rid of it

Not surprised you had issues - aren't they basically a mondeo with a Jag badge on??!

I've driven a mate's Mondeo and it was a lot better than our X-Type

Somehow, I think that Jag, took all the reliability away from the Mondeo, but added, all of Jags reliability/build quality quirks but with retro-styling, smoking jacket, pipe and slippers as standard and charged 25% increase in price
