Smile Suggestions for modding stock E92

Hi All
New to the forum. Just got my first E92. Completely stock. Have been reading the many and varied threads posted by you guys, but am keen to get your suggestion on how to transform this blank canvas into something special.
Immediate plans are to install JB4 and DP but from there not so sure.... advice anyone??

Depends what you are trying to achieve but it is usually the same for most owners.
As you said JB4 and DPs are a good start. You can add to the list with DCI and intercooler and charge pipe with DV or BOV.
I think you should bear in mind that keeping on top maintenance is a big factor with these engines ie spark plugs, coils, injectors, fuel system et.

Cheers Digi... thanks for the heads up on the maintenance costs.... Looking to up the power and exhaust note, before fitting new rims etc.... not sure about fitting M3 panels etc... One suggestion was a throttle mod to make the accelerator pedal more responsive. Has anyone had any experience with these? worth doing or not???

Accelerator mod? like the sprint booster??

Don't bother mate. It's like $300 for fuck all performance. Spend that $300 on charge pipe instead.

Get the JB4 and put your car in sport mode, you'll see it needs no "accelerator mods".

Also, replace the spark plugs (at least) and the coil packs when you install the JB4. Everyone recommended me to do it, and I'm glad I did.

Best BFYB will be jb4 and E85.

Once you start adding more boost you will benefit from a FMIC and charge pipe (the oem fmic is too small and heat soaks too easily - the oem CP is plastic is is prone to cracking and causing issues an aftermarket CP will be aluminium with silicon couplers)

down pipes will definitely help (the turbos spool up so much faster with catless DP's and gives the engine a much better engine note - don't worry about reports of exhaust odours from the catless DP's i noticed no difference the E92 has two cats at the rear before the mufflers)

an intake doesn't really give huge gains, but they give the engine a great induction roar (i was shocked at how much of an inlet noise there was on the T/C N54)

Be prepared to change all 6 spark plugs and coils and be totally amazed when you drive your car tuned for the 1st time!!!

Thanks for all the great advice guys... am I allowed a stupid newbie question??
Whats a E85??? Quick google reveals E85 to be fuel blend lol (sorry probably should have done that before posting - face palm)
Coils and sparks are a must, I understand increasing the boost puts strain on the ignition system?

So the list for mod stage 1 sounds like JB4, new sparks and coil pack, IC, charge pipe and catless DPs??
Will the exhaust system need upgrading as well?

Any advice on parts or brands to use or stay away from?

E85 fuel from united servo.

Ethanol allows the ignition timing to be advanced and has a host of benefits such as higher RON, it runs cooler and makes a shitload more power then 98.

Typically it's mixed with 98 as a 30-40% mix, any higher requires fuel system upgrades.

Basically you add E85 and 98, select the appropriate map on the JB4 and you get an extra 30+ KW!

That's a nice blank canvas you have there dude

I've loved space grey, at first I thought it was a tad dull but have really grown to love it and its very easy to maintain (as you will find out going from your dark porsche to your 335i!)

At least you won't baulk at how much maintenance the 335i's require having owned a porsche! (all my previous cars have been japanese and have only ever basically had oil changes, spark plugs batteries and timing belts!)

What's your plan for her?

Planning performance before bling

Stage 1 = JB4, CP, Sparks/Coils and Catless DPs
Stage 2 = FMIC + (insert ideas here)

BTW did anyone spot the problem with my MY08?

You've done quite a bit... but it still sounds like you're missing the final component to your car.

Maybe you should get in on the LSD group buy in the classified section... *hint*

no real need for an exhaust on our cars, I would do that last since it doesn't give a good power increase, mostly just for the sound.

Intake, downpipes, CP+BOV, JB4 should be the first things, then Intercooler. (just saw thats what youre planning! nice!)

I would do LCI tails or coilovers after the intercooler. and if its a 6speed Auto get the Alpina flash for the transmission, makes to SOOOO much better (if you drive in S or M, if you drive mostly in D then dont bother)
