Bmw 335d About to give up
Hi guys
I have a 2007 E92 335d with DPF removed and 150,000 miles. I just can't seem to figure out what is causing my power issue and about to give up. My power loss issue is slightly different to a lot of threads iv seen. Unlike others, I do have some power in lower RPM's but its not alot. I can hear the turbo spooling well from 1200rpm and after 1700-1900rpm i have decent amount of power but it feels nowhere near as effortless as my E60 535D did. After 2500-3000 RPM when the big turbo kicks in, I have plenty of power but most of the time driving it's under 1700-1800rpm which is where the problem is. Today in the morning whilst going to work, climbing up a hill felt like a struggle (only when cold) and had to give alot more gas than usual. Once warmed up the same hill is fine but low down power is still missing? EDIT: 6 weeks ago the big turbo stopped working on motorway and had no power above 2.5-3k ish but after restarting car, everything was back to normal. Changed pressure converters and not happened again. No codes present and I've changed: 2 x Pressure converters All Vac lines Red boost pipe MAF (Cleaned for maintenance but wasn't coming up with any errors) Intercooler Last edited by Bmwguy82; 01-25-2018 at 08:08 AM.. |

yeh it will of been mapped out,but all the gunk that gets inside it and manifold etc.easy to do just take it off and get some good cleaner like wynns egr cleaner or even some mr muscle.need a brush and screwdriver also to scrape..the manifold could be taken off and submersed in cleaner/petrol or whatever, some write ups on tinternet of how to do it etc..wear gloves coz its the devils shit to get off ya hands.

Did you change the solenoid for the turbo changeover valve when you replaced the pressure converters? (Number 4 on diagram) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_3985 Have you done any logs when driving to see if it's making requested boost etc? |

I only have a bmw c110 code reader which doesn't show me boost (unless i'm missing something?). Might have to get one of them boost testers. Last edited by Bmwguy82; 01-25-2018 at 05:37 PM.. |

Have you tried feeding it some diesel additives?
All diesel is NOT created equal, with some low-cetane shit our cars barely move.... dump in a bunch of Howe's (American, not sure if you have it) or Liquimoly , and suddenly it's tire-shredding fast |

I actually have inpa which works perfectly with every module apart from the engine
I have tried diesel additives and didn't notice an improvement Can confirm EGR blank has been delivered and will try fit this evening... anything specific i should use to block the vacuum pipe going to the egr? I was told to get this blanking kit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-EGR-D...AAAOSwImRYSvhl |

I use Carly to do basic logs, it displays most stuff I want to see. Have you already blanked the swirl flaps etc? |

UPDATE:
Got my hands on a vacuum pump to test. Results: Electric switchover valve - OK Vacuum tank - OK Wastegate actuator- OK (rod moves freely and doesn't leak) Pressure Converter at the back which controls wastegate actuator - OK was holding at 20+ (Hg on gauge). Supply was 26 and exit was roughly 24-26. The rod moves when you start the car. The other pressure converter (turbine one) confused me slightly . The supply was giving it around 26 on gauge and the exit was 1 and didn't increase at all regardless idle or reving. I thought it was the pressure converter but i tried a new one and same results. I'm very confused!! Can anyone shed some light? What should i be expecting when testing this pressure converter? Last edited by Bmwguy82; 03-24-2018 at 10:01 PM.. |

anyone?
Edit: Today I used a t-piece and got a gauge in the car to see if it's any different whilst driving. Got nothing from that pressure converter. Tried 2 new ones now and nothing at all. Here is a clip that might help (OneDrive link to my public folder): https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai87B0mAORrKgQ01K_HEtyGCQ6CI Last edited by Bmwguy82; 03-26-2018 at 06:10 PM.. |

UK diesel is probably better than the USA stuff. I don't notice any difference between supermarket and the premium fuels.

I do for sure, I once filled up at Morrisons and for the next week my car sounded like a tank (minor exaggeration but it was noisier!) , was noticeably unrefined compared to usual and not quite as responsive. Went back to the usual V-Power from Shell and all of the above was reversed after a few miles. There is a definite difference with my car. |
