Shifterboy.......you are one of the most helpful and knowledgeable posters on here and I always find your posts to be informative, unbiased and insightful.
Like others have already stated - thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of us. It's a beacon of light in this fog of opinion and marketing hyperbole. |

Went to my dealer today and when entering my VIN there is no recall on my car although I meet the conditions. I guess the recall is only valid in the US...as usual Europe is neglected (not on the engine and accessories choices though )

I just talked to my SA and they ran my VIN against their database. My car falls under both the fuel injector recall and the voluntary fuel pump recall. I scheduled an appointment after the holidays.

my 335i
Coincidently, I had a check engine light on few days ago and took my car down to a local dealership in CA. They say all my injectors failed and needed to be replaced but they wouldn't cover under the recall. How come??? Are recalls released few at a time? I am very frustrated as I need to spend 3K to replace all 6. Please advise guys

2007 335i
manufacturing date: 06/07
Mileage: 63K Dealer service date: 12/28/2010 At the time of service, the dealer only showed once recall in their system (hpfp programming recall). This was performed and cleared from the system. As for the injector failure, the dealer did not charge the diagnostic fee because it may be covered under a new campaign shortly - how come it didn't on 12/28/2010? Per the link, this should be already effective... I am not sure what's going on. please help guys |

And by the way, an injector costs $108, I am sure you can find a good shop to swap them for a much lower cost if needed. Make sure they can code the injector tolerances into the ECU though. |

It comes on every morning with rough idling for 20 minutes and goes away later after the car is warmed up. The engine shakes and misfires in the morning.

i looked up injectors in service and warranty up to see if you had any coverage on extended emissions warranty..
no go.. sorry dude at 4yrs and 63k .. looks like you'll have to come out of pocket with the dealer. replacing this type of injector is not simple, so your best bet is to get it done at the dealer.. unless there is a shop is nearby with BMW spec equipment... this recall is based on affected components installed on the vehicle as identified by BMW build database.
some cars will get 1 repair, while others will get all the current SIBs performed. if you have a good relationship with your advisor, ask if they can give you any assistance.. you never know until you ask |
