Brought my car in for misfiring on the cyclinders causing rough idles and engine shutdown and I got a new HPFP (even though no HPFP related codes were thrown), new injectors and spark plugs.

She's running like a champ now.

Hey, did you ask for wastegate valve conversion option? Even if what you read around here says its "on" by default, I would still request it.

I swear my car felt as fast as GIAC stage 1 until you 4K RPM where it falls flat.

* Dealer installed ISTA 2.40.2 - Programmed and encoded complete vehicle as per recall
* Performed vehicle test, checked fault memory, test low pressure sensor
* Replaced HPFP as per recall. Used part number 13-51-7-613-933 This is not the latest!
* Replaced 4 fuel injectors with part number 13-53-7-585-261
* Replaced 4 decoupling elements part number 13-53-7-564-751

* Car drives VERY VERY smooth.
* Car starts up immediately, as it did previously.
* Car idles at 700 rpms! This is not a fluke. This is on a fully warmed up engine after 20 miles of driving.

I suspect they raise the idle to 700 rpms in order to keep the HPFP from starving for fuel. Again, this is just a guess. Previously my car would idle at 550 rpms with fully warmed up engine!

Discuss.

Not sure if this applies to Europe too (would love to !), but if your car was produced 04/02/2007 through 10/31/2008 then you have a good chance to get free injectors from BMW...

forgive me if this is a stupid question but why would you want new fuel injectors? what is the cause for wanting new ones? is this related to like HPFP? or people just want new injectors haha?

Brought my car in last week for an oil change and when I got it back they told me they had changed out the pump, injectors and software also. Never had any problems with any, except for one plausibility code that rang up a while back but never any symptoms. I got the car back and noticed the car is a whole lot smoother then before though. My original pump had 25k on it and now according to the documentation I'm on the 933 pump. Hopefully this pump treats me as well as the original one did. Either way im glad its back because its JB4 time!!!

My waste gates are fine. I honestly don't see a difference between the new firmware and the pre-29 versions.

It is important to note that injectors which fail the 2d barcode scan will be replaced.

If you have a sharpie handy....

Yeah I noticed that all the TSBs are no longer accessible. Maybe you'll need an account from now on, which sucks. Someone post the PDFs!

dont know about the GIAC part... but 2.40.2 does put a little pep in your step out of the hole compared to 2.38.1

good initial throttle response, but true the fact that it tapers hard at 3800 -3900 rpm

i hope thats taken care of with my 1M (ordering in late Sept.)--- the "M" button should provide a little magic

I know this seems like a stupid question because it clearly states 04/02/2007 through 10/31/2008. but is it possible to get them replaced on a December 06 build? Wouldn't the cars built before 4/02/07 be effected as well?

Got an appt myself soon. They told me on the phone: software update, hpfp and injectors are all part of the visit. Guess I will pay for an oil change while there as long as they don't hassle me..haha..

Don't pay for an oil change at the dealer, that's the biggest rip off in the WORLD. They charge like $120

Fantastic! I would love a shiny new set of Injectors before I install my JB4. Taking it to the dealership next week for this. What are usual symptoms to look for if new Injectors are needed?

How is it a ripoff? They take the time/effort (people cost money) to put it up on the rack, pull the bolts/covers off the bottom...put synthetic oil in factory spec, and filter...I don't think it is out of line since it is done maybe 1x/year when you include the regular interval change to give some piece of mind.

But then again, $120 is nothing to me personally...not when piano lessons alone for my kids cost $145/month...and we aren't even talking about dance and other stuff they are into....

Oh...and the $210/month cell phone bill for 3 phones from ATT?!?!

And you think $120 is a lot of money??

It's all relative I guess....

This gives me hope, as my current 335i is an 02/08 build date and just started shaking violently and giving me a service engine soon light the other morning when I started it up. My appointment is this coming monday.

I'd be interested in seeing a PDF of this injector recall. I'm 3500 miles out of warranty and I have had misfires on 2nd and 3rd cylinders. I took it in and tried to see if I could get something done under a grace period but the only thing they would do is the hpfp recall.
