I posted in the other thread about a cable that works and is only $37! Dont let those $100 cables rip you off... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 buy it from top100 it worked right away. Also alot of the issues you might be having may-not actually be the cord but the software. Read this thread! I had windows 8 so everything in his video worked perfect for me. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=859474 |

The cord looks just like the ones priced at $99 and im sure these cords are the same ones that are sold for $99. I can see most not installing the software correctly which would cause them to think that the cord doesn't work. It happened to me, at first i couldn't get the air bag to respond so i just assumed it wasn't going to work. Then i said screw it and followed the rest of the instructions and once i got to the part that i could pick my car (e89 in the program) it showed my vin, and correct model (e93). So it actually works when it might seem that it doesn't. The software is very technical so its easy to get confused with it, there is always the possibility that you have an issue with windows it's self and its not recognizing the cord or maybe the drivers that came with the cheap cord are the problem and finding them online from the correct cord might do it. Since you'll have both cords, once you get the $99 working, swap it for the cheap one and see if it still works. Some people have gotten ebay's cords to work so it'll be interesting for you to do a comparison. Maybe even take pics for a physical one. |

Buster84,
Hey that's a good idea to test out both. I definitely report anything I can make sense of. However, I couldn't even get my eBay chord (not same as the one by TOP100) to see battery on. I have a bmw 2006, so I'm gonna try the eBay cord on that car. The eBay cord that I bought which didn't work on my 2010 is from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/330606867879...84.m1423.l2649 I'm assuming I was really duped cause it doesn't say the same kind of things as your cord. They advertise as GT1 which I have no idea what that means, in contrast to dcan etc. |

I noticed that on the ebay page you got the cord from it actually shows a picture of it not compatible with ncs expert. Maybe thats why? It shows that it works for impa though. You mentioned it not showing the battery on light. When i plug my cord in there is a red light right away. It stays on for about 1 min, then turns off. Then if i read, or write to the ecu it blinks red again. I take it your cord doesn't show any lights when plugged in? If so the cord might just be a dud then or maybe it was made incorrectly... I can see that happening on bulk cables. Even good companies such as apple has had problems. I bought a mackbook charger, took it home. Insatiately dead, had to swap it out. Since you got your money back thats good. |

doh...
I guess I should try following the directions given by the ebay seller. Maybe it does work? Just not with NCS expert? Ok, guess I have two approaches to try. I'll report back. The chord lights on solid red when plugged in to the USB jack. The "board" is green, in case you were curious. Some discussion on the Amazon feedback stating that for DCAN+K chords with the "green" boards are sometimes good, "white" mostly bad, and another color rare? |

I have a notebook running Windows XP and a working cable and about 10 different packages of software and guides to install. I could use an idiot proof solution to get the software running. Would appreciate a pm with info.
