Transmission Maintenance:
Rear main seal looked good so I didn't touch it, seals on transmission also looked okay: Flywheel and the pressure plate had a lot of hot spots on them. The dual mass flywheel had very little play, I think there was a lot of life left on it if someone is able to machine the contact surface. I might try to send it out to be machines to keep as a spare. Had to shorten the plastic clutch alignment tool that was provided in the kit: Flywheel and PP mounted, transmission was a pain in the ass to get back in: Last edited by bmw335ie90; 05-06-2023 at 02:06 PM.. |

Some additional mods:
Wetsanded with 600 Grit and sprayed with adheasion promoter: Primer applied. Tons of dust everywhere, had to wipe down pieces before base coats: Base and clear sprayed, needs wet sanding for the orange peel: Last edited by bmw335ie90; 05-06-2023 at 02:06 PM.. |

If only I had a lift. I'd do everything myself. But, at the age of 23 and still in college. A lift wouldn't be a smart financial decision right now

Yeah the lift is super clutch, its not mine but I use it like it is! Probably have spent hundreds of hours with my e39 on it, now I'm starting to rack up time with the e90.

I wonder how much it would cost to get a garage built out back and have a lift installed? Probably around $50k roughy?

Looks super nice. very tasteful mods.
Wish my e90 looked this clean but it's on more than double the miles yours is and lived through many salty roads ahahah. How did you find the osram cool blue bulbs and how much gearbox oil did you use for the change? |

I love the osram CBI bulbs, pure white output and brighter than OEM. The transmission took just under 2 Quarts of oil.

Installed Revshift trailing arms and cleaned up the wheels. Took off the old wheel weight adhesive and put on some Gloss Coat I had left over. Need to buy some black model paint and touch up the barrels where the tire shop buckered the paint. Continental DWS06 all season tires replaced with Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires.

Some maintenance at 65k miles. Engine bay was cleaned before removing the oil filter housing in an attempt to keep anything from falling into the exposed oil system.

Awesome. Where did you go for the steering wheel? Are you pleased with the result from the rear subframe inserts?

Rear subframe inserts helped a lot with the floaty rear end feel over bumps but thats really it. I want to go solid aluminum bushings at some point but not ready to make that leap quite yet. |

Tried to clean up the VRSF charge pipe by tig welding the top meth bung and swapping out the horrid looking t-clamps for black oxide screw clamps. Also painted the ends of the VRSF intercooler black to make it look a bit more OEM.
Front bumper is looking pretty rough. When I purchased the car, Carfax had a "damage to front - It hit an object - airbags did not deploy" report on it. Pretty obvious that the front bumper was poorly repainted as rock chips easily take the paint off all the way down to the primer/plastic. Last edited by bmw335ie90; 12-10-2022 at 06:28 PM.. |

Simply amazing job mate. I'm sure most of us are suffering serious envy with just how clean that car is!
What's left on the list? |

The only thing for sure I'll do soon is install the lightly used Dinan fixed front camber plates I just purchased from a forum member. Been looking for a long time for a used e93 m3 front sway bar but they are pretty uncommon to find used. Would like to do a few more items in future but cannot justify at the moment: Replace headlight lenses, replace front bumper with a Euro one, and replace windshield with a "climate comfort" version. |
