GTechnique stuff is great. I haven't used it personally. I've always used and been a fan of CarPro items. Reload and CQuartz UK 3.0 are so incredibly easy to use. They have also come a long way in the shine department, but honestly the best part is when you spray a hose on it a year later with little to no maintenance and the dirt just streaks off. I got almost 3 years out of the first coat - the car was street parked in SF that whole time. Shocking how long it lasted.

It's going to put you out of the car washing business :-0

I appreciate the tip about the MaxShine Pro15. I've been looking for another polisher. My old Griot's garage unit is a decade on now and starting to short out at low rpms. There's no way I'm paying Rupes prices!
I have a friend that works for gtechniq in Atlanta and I could have gotten it cheap or free but I wanted to see how the car corrected out. I may do a strip wash and quick polish in a few weeks and put it on. The Maxshine was pretty good. It got hot, stalled very little when I had pressure on it and was on a angle(I should have a 3" machine for stuff like that) and vibrates like hell. But Ill used it like 2-3 times a year so the Rupes didn't make sense. If I start picking up some details I might grab one.

Is this build vacant? strange to see decent looking office space vacant. That would make a great multi-plex of art and studio's. Place like there around here are being converted into living space as people are moving back into towns.

Both of those buildings are vacant. There was plans to convert the warehouse one to a mixed facility with apartments, stores, and restaurants. They were going to have like 100 apartments but only provide like 65 parking spots so the towns folk got restless and shut it down. It has been in a few movies and tv shows, it was the zombie fighting ring in the Governor season of Walking Dead. This little town is growing and apartments keep popping up, people hate it. I personally dont care, I just want my property value to go up so I can sell it and get a house with a giant shop on some land. The other building was taken over by University of West Ga, it was a medical office and I think it will eventually be a nursing school.

So on the way home I stopped to get gas in the wagon, and as I pulled away from the gas pump the car started really funny. Apparently I filled the car with diesel....... nah just kidding. I had a slight misfire that got worse the closer I got to home. I ran the codes and found a cylinder 4 misfire so I pulled it in the garage and let it cool before tearing it down. Its always fun to use your scheduled project(the garage cabinet I need to assemble) to set your unscheduled project on.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I swapped the #4 coil pack with the number #2 coil pack, erased the codes and the misfire moved to number #2.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Cylinder 1 had what looked to be a new coil pack, but the rest looked oem. I pulled the plug from cylinder #4 and I was surprised to find what looked to be an original plug. The car is about to roll over 90k miles so it could have had plugs done before but this looked pretty old.

I went ahead and ordered 6 new coils and plugs, which were surprisingly cheap through FCP euro. And they were even doing a sale on their shipping so I paid for next day and I should have them tomorrow.

Got the plugs an coils in last night.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Of course the last plug I pulled had oil on it. So I will put a cover gasket on the list to do soon. I may do it and the disa valve soon.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I got to use my vac line trick to put the plugs in. It makes life a lot easier.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I buttoned the car back up and its running great so far. I drove it to work this morning and the idle wasnt fluctuating like it used to. So I guess I will plan on the Disa and cover replacement soon.

Surprised you didn't buy Delphi or Eldor coils as they superceded the Bosch ones a wile ago...

New to this forum but signed up after spending too much time actually reading your thread - outstanding attention to detail and I've learned so much from this thread alone and the contributors to your build. Keep going!

I haven't done much with the wagon since my last post, but on March 25 a tornado hit my house and sadly the wagon was outside under my carport. The carport took a little wind damage and was hit by my neighbors shed.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

The wagon thankfully didn't take a direct hit but did get pelted with debris.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I gave it a quick wash in what is left of my carport to inspect the damage. Yes I have had an engineer look at the carport and it is not in danger of falling.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

It has some sort of scratch or mark on every panel and two of the wheels are pretty beat up. I am not sure what I am going to do with the car at this point. I have a work trip coming up and the house needs a ton of work. I think I am going to try to detail it and use some Dr Colorchip on it but if I cant bring it back to my standards I may sell it. I have a lot of other stuff in the works right now so this is certainly on the back burner but I am looking at some other cars. I did get a shot on my street, the lighting sucked but I had to do it.

Thank you all. I have decided to try to polish out what I can and use Dr Colorchip to fill in what I cant. I also have a friend that works for a large detailing supply company that is sending me a care package to help with the process. My dad and I are finishing up our E9 project, so I will probably take a few weeks and work on the wagon when thats done. The plan is to take care of some maintenance, full detail, and maybe some upgrades, so stay tuned.
