One door won't lock/unlock E90 Pre LCI

My central locking is set to open only the driver's door unless I press it twice. So the other doors don't get used very often. But the other day I opened them all and when I pressed the LOCK button on the remote there was like a machine-gun-like sound briefly. I noticed the driver's side rear door hasn't locked. Pressed LOCK again and got the machine gun sound again but the door didn't lock. I opened it and pushed in the lock manually. But now that door won't unlock. No machine gun sound when trying to unlock it though. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Inside the door lock actuator there are plastic cogs which commonly break, I've already had to replace 2 of them. This is a set I purchased:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Door-Lock....m46890.l49286

It's a bit long but it may be worth opening the actuator and having a look, I wanted to fix rather than buy a second hand actuator simply because it's common for the teeth to wear down or cogs to snap.

Thx, I'll have to look into it when I get a chance. Any idea how to open the door?

If it won't open from the inside I'm sure you can remove the screws from the door card and pull the door panel off, you could just pull the handle once the screws are removed. When you have done that you can manually unlock the actuator

It did open from the inside with the handle, I had forgotten it does that.
