Could give it a try but I'd be surprised for that worked, latest dvd compatible version still 2020-2 I believe

I've used this same USB to update the maps numerous times and this is the first update to not work. Tried a few times.

Reformat the stick as fat32 if you are sure you downloaded all files correctly (23.7gb total size I think). Sometimes that works for car to see it, rare but have seen that before

You can't format a drive that's larger than 4GB as FAT32 as the FAT32 file system doesn't support drives over that size.

I know I've gotten this to work before but I can't remember how.

Almost, you can certainly format a USB drive greater than 4GB using FAT32 even up and beyond 32/64GB. Where beardycub86 hit the post is the maximum file size on said formatted drive is 4GB.

Therefore you should be able to put all the components/files of a Nav update on a FAT32 drive as when you look in the folder structure no single file is larger than that 4GB (if I remember correctly).

Yes exactly, 32gb is usual max fat32 format size in windows but is possible to get well beyond that if crazy enough. Max file size is 4gb. Think normal fat16 max size is 4gb if remember correctly but you'd have to go out of your way to even format as fat16 and certainly don't want to...
You'll be fine with fat32, any usb stick under 32gb is usually sold pre formatted as fat32

As above, you’re confused. On FAT32, 4GB is the max file size, not the maximum capacity of the USB stick.

Hi all! I'm new to this forum. First of all many thanks for sharing this and all your help.

I'm also having and issue with 2021-01 map update. I had no issue updating to 2020-02 with 32GB USB2.0 drive. Now, doesn't seem to like my new 64GB USB3.1 drive. Downloaded files from MEGA link posted above. I may try it again with the 2.0 drive (i hope to find it)

Go back to your 32GB drive. 64GB sticks are very hit n miss.

Was wondering about this the other day, do maps generally follow closely with the calendar year in terms of -1 and -2 versions?
Did a quick google search and seems that 2021-2 LIVE maps are ready for purchase. I'm not too clued up on naming conventions of later maps but must perhaps be what the newest cars have.
Its a little confusing as this thread has posts from the month of march stating that 2020-2 is ready, which would suggest we are overdue already?

Usually around May - July for the -2 maps.

I updated mine to 2019 maps a couple of years ago which was a right faff because my cic is a retro fit. I thought that would be the last time I would bother to do that as I hardly ever use it but my son has just bought an lci which had its original 2010 maps so it had to be updated really. I decided to try the map flash drive in mine, low and behold, it worked so the lifetime fsc I managed to get in 2019 still works!
