Seeking help! Car not starting after attempted tune of MHD

Cable came from BurgerTuning, battery charger on, airplane mode active, no doors opened, followed everything to a T. Upon starting the upload, the car screen flashed 4x4/ABS so, something is transmitting. On the application, I selected the map to upload. It never went to a screen showing amount updated/percentage and went back to the home screen. When I attempt to click on something else in the application, it states "Waiting for last task to complete" After almost 2hrs, I finally unplugged and tried to turn over. It cranks but no longer fires with several error messages.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Doesn't sound like you started the flash or finished it entirely.


Reflash, after choosing to write flash to car it WILL go to another screen with the percentage of flash. After it hits 100% it will clear the codes in DME and some other stuff and then say to turn your car off and wait 30sec before turning back on. Flash should work.

I tried it a 2nd time and same situation, when I select the map, it acts like it's pulling over the data but, it never shows a progress screen. It then goes back to the homescreeen of the application.

what device are you using to flash? Certain/some android devices have issues. After choosing the flash, ie stage 1 or stage 2+ it should go to another screen where you can choose flash options or to write flash to car, does it get to this screen? After clicking write to car it then goes to the percentage screen. Where is yours freezing exactly?

After a combination of full battery charging, attempted flash after flash, I got the progress bar and completed tune on attempt #4. I then attempted a reflash with "options" and encountered the same issues. I'm using a Note 5 with the cable sold from Burger. Could either of those be the issue?

Anyone update the app to the latest revision and forced to do a full write? Updated to 1.72, and tried to switch from V8 Stg2+ to V8 E50 with my only option stating 8-20 min full write (early 07).

Never seen this before. Same thing happened to WordOnRoad with updated 1.72 app, just reflashing V7 Stg2+ add updated options. Had to do full 38 min write (09).

Anyone had recent issues with the initial flash failing? Each time I’ve attempted a full flash to stock or flash to install MHD recently the process fails at ‘please wait’ with a response of ‘unable To erase memory’

The result is the car is then bricked.

Turning off the ignition, waiting and then trying a second time then results in the flash continuing normally.

It’s not doing a lot for my blood pressure and this issue seems only in the last month...

Makes me wonder if there’s a software or app update that’s caused this?

Same to me from V8 beta to my custom tune for MHD.
Lucky for me it no longer has to run fuel pump for flashing and my car only needs 8m.

Updated MHD flasher and reflashed a full write with V8 stage 2+ 102RON. Now had two times the 30FF code, never had it before with 98Ron or V7... What could be wrong?

No issues with my car .. just can't seem to complete the flash on the first try. always taken a number of attempts. I have also notice when I try to check for codes it takes a number of attempts for the cable to connect to my Android tablet (Nexus). I have to do a number of soft reset to the Android tablet and finally get the cable to connect. I am thinking it's the cable. I may just end of buying the recommended cable to see if that will fix the issue.

Something similar happened to me.

What I did as follows

- App seem to be stuck. I made sure I removed it from the cookie from the table.

- I did a soft reset of the tablet

- I followed the process again and it seem to complete the flash.


I am currently having issue with my cable. Every time I connect it to the tablet .. it states it is not connected. I just ordered the "recommended" cable from one of the vendors. Let us know how it turns out.

Is negative boost on idle or very slow driving normal? When the boost target is 0 psi, I always get a negative boost reading. My OEM diverter valves are venting to atmosphere - a.k.a. 2 dollar BOV mod using rubber chair stop on the CP. I have been running it for quite a while and have no logs from back when DVs were connected to the CP. Would that have something to do with this? I never get any 30FF or any other codes showing insufficient boost. Perhaps the negative readings are normal?

*The first image shows it happening after I fully lift off the throttle after WOT.
*The second one is just normal slow commuting driving and accelerating in D mode (on ATF) from gears 2 to 5.

Yes, normal. When turbo cars are not in boost they run on vacuum just like any other non-forced induction car.

If I run MHD stage 2 do I keep original spark plugs or get these "colder" ones?

Either flash back to stock or Stage 0 (Stock Map with MHD Still installed). You can also turn the O2 sensors back on in other maps, but best to just go stock to get tested.

I think you should have colder ones. That applies to higher boost which comes with higher stages and to running E85 blends due to ethanol igniting differently.

I am running either stage 2+ on 93 RON or 2+ 93E30 and haven't got any misfires using NGK 95770 at 0.022" gap. I have run them for maybe 11-12k miles so far and not a single misfire.
