Awesome thread just what I'm looking for. On page five so far and great info. I have the system for my audis and would love to learn what is necessary to have me set up for my BMW. Plan to read this entire thread within next few days. Is there anyway to get one post with all the links and central place for the info like a sticky. I did read that someone deleted something like that but still haven't read why. Please pm me anything you guys can share that will get me set up.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! |

I checked cable with INPA and it detected my ignition but got the following error when I checked the airbag.
Group file : D_SIM. SYS-0005: OBJECT FILE NOT FOUND. Program will be stopped! I decided to check NCS since it read my cable and was able to go through the process, it pulled my VIN and vehicle order summary and was even able to read the ECU and provided the values. I stopped right there as I wasnt sure if it was okay to continue since I got the error from INPA. Does anyone know why INPA is giving me that error when I check the airbag? Or do you think its okay to continue with the coding? |

Hopefully after this I will be good to go. After I read the ECU, I went in to PSW FSW man file and I dont see what I need. Is the man and trc file supposed to have the same content? I read that you make changes to the man file and NOT the trc, but I dont see what I need to change in the man file. The TRC file have it, so do I copy everything from the TRC file and replace whats already in the man file and makes changes I need in the man file?
I figured it out Make changes in the TRC file and save as MAN file. Last edited by blingman; 02-10-2015 at 09:44 PM.. |

ONE-STOP CABLE or EBAY
I have followed the page 1 (2014) UPDATE AND REPLACED THE FILE FOLDERS WITH THE v49 FOUND IN THE rar FILE. If I click on the INPA icon the screen pops up and the Battery & Ignition screen pops up. So, I am thinking that all is ok.
I then pull out the $25 E-bay cable and plug it in and Win7 does find the applicable drivers. Again , all seems good on my 64bit WIN7 machine. . . Then I plug into the car and activate INPA -- but the BAT & ING Screen does not show the I am making any connection . I was expecting to see the bat (black filled circle) with the ignition off --- no luck. . . Any advice on my next step?? Should I buy the $99 one-stop cable? |

What I do is: I don't even open INPA, I go straight to NCS Expert, F1, F3, select my chassis (E89), then hit the "back" button (last one on the right). It pulls my VIN on the header. All is good. My cable will never show me battery/ignition status, and I knew that before purchasing the 8 dollar VAG KKL cable. But everything else works. Try that first before committing to more cash to these things. Last edited by Douche; 02-15-2015 at 10:33 AM.. |

No Success
I do appreciate the quick reply. I tried as you described -- but no connection made. The expert tool F1, F3 it did nothing.
. I did read that the ebay cable does not have the proper chip and many recommend the on-stop-cable. . . I am hoping others will chime in. I have 6 new injectors waiting to be installed but 1st want to verify my ability to code them prior to installation. Any others want to report their method with or without the $99 cable from one-stop on a 64-bit win7 (home edition) machine. |

Those things have to be setup with any cable, regardless. |

Did you actually set NCS/inpa to com7 in their own setup?
If you didn't, I highly recommend just changing it to com1 on the device manager and giving it another go in the car. That's what I did and found it to be the easiest route. Setting the software to follow my device manager didn't work out well for me (I had com5), so I just changed the cable in device manager to com1. Solved it. That's the default for inpa/NCS |

COM 1
OK went to device manager and changed to COMM 1 and ensured 1 on the
delay. Went to the car and no BAT or IGNITION. Then went to expert tool and tried F1 then F3 with no result or change. |

You are selecting file, load profil, then expert mode, f1 (vin), f3, e89 and back? No error, no message? No vin above? Try restarting the computer and plugging the cable, then opening NCS expert. Make sure you follow it exactly, because if you leave inpa open you will not be able to connect with NCS. They don't work at the same time (concurrent usage of the data transfer cable). |

VIN READ
OK following you advice I did GO into Expert and Chose E89 which was reall E90 and then it asked to Choose an ECU --- CAS , FRM, NFRM --- I chose FRM ----- and it read my vin #.
So I guess the cable is working. But then how to navigate through the german menu and find the injector coding --- WOW. On the INPA side it would seem easy. However, with INPA the F9 key for injector coding is skipped. I am really in the dark now --- thanks for your help!!! |

I was in the tip of my toes here... Phew! Nice to hear you got it going. Check this thread out, as it has quite a few links to a lot of useful information in the injector coding process. I have never needed to do it myself, and hope I'll never need it anyway (I have an N52 engine), but the steps seemed followable: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1091479 EDIT: Don't sweat it if you can't still see the battery/ignition icons. I don't. |

Just ordered a D-Can cable for my E90.
I've done a fair bit of coding and fault diagnosis on my E36 so can't wait to start playing with the E90. |
