whats your mileage? maybe you need a power steering flush, maybe your power steering is failing, or maybe you're just a pussy.

Same.

Just picked up my 08 335i two weeks ago and the steering weight was the first thing I noticed and just settled thinking this is how it's supposed to feel but some are saying tyres, joints, fluids. I like how it feels and I have no problem steering with one hand but some times it does make you think it's mad that BMW would have the steering this heavy as standard when... (as sexist as I don't want this to sound) a lot of women prefer light steering. My girlfriend says she would not want to drive a car with steering as heavy as it is in my 335i.

I have a 2011 335xi and my steering feels very heavy when maneuvering in parking lots. The power steering pump is rather noisy aswell. I have flushed and refilled the power steering reservoir and the pump still sounds the same. Should I consider replacing the pump? or is it normal for the pump to be a little noisy?

I own a 2011 335i and i'm pretty sure the steering is suppose to be this heavy. The new generation (F30) is lighter. I test drove a lot of E90s and E92s and they were all the same. I personally like how heavy it is, the car doesn't feel like a toy like some Japanese cars.

Garage List
I have a 1999 oldsmobile Alero with feather light steering, so when I got my E90 I was taken back by the steering, though once used to it I don't feel like my car is going to fly off the road, lol.

The Alero has ridiculous light steering, a slight turn of your head and you're crashing into a parked car on the side of the road type of light. A 2 yr old could drive it..

yeah I love it.

For me it is weird because my wife has a Mercedes GLE 350 SUV
and the steering makes her 2.5 ton truck feel feather light but the
steering on my itty bitty 3er makes me feel like I'm piloting the
Millennium Falcon space ship on the surface of a Neutron Star!

It really plays with the mind sometimes...

Now, on the highway it's great - very precise and you get good feedback from the road.

Is that normal? I'm assuming my car does to have active steering, which a lot of people seem to dislike and find "non-enthusiast".

A 2011 335i xdrive I drove had much softer steering, at lower speeds. It probably had it.

If it's stiff periodically and the steering wheel doesn't return after the turn, check for stiffness on the u joint of the lower steering shaft

hope this helps

On the contrary, my 2007 335i on coilovers with stock top hats has a lighter steering wheel feel than my dads stock 2008 335i which is way heavier. I like the heavier feel but the lightness of my car feels great on the mountains, but also concerns me that a bushing might be worn.
