Tracking with an LSD
This might seem like a dumb question, but what can I expect on track with a new lsd as far as vehicle dynamics go? I've only tracked my e90 with the stock open diff before. I just ordered up an MFactory helical, and was wondering how it will behave differently. Any thoughts?

I think the better question to ask is what have you noticed so far with open diff.

I guess I was wondering if there was a noticeable change in the ability to rotate mid corner with the throttle.

It would be more controlled (if you know what you doing of course) but corner speed will depend more on the front setup more.

Since you bought a helical you certainly won't see any off throttle rotation, as the diff essentially defaults to open at this stage since you're not locking it with throttle.
Sure, the diff will lock under acceleration. However as feuer said you're describing more suspension and wheel/tire setup to dictate exit speed. Things like keeping traction could all be driver based error, such as getting on the gas too early. |

I have the MFactory Torsen. It's feels similar to stock in that the overall dynamic behaviors of the car are the same. However, the car will now be much better at digging out of the sharper corners, and be more tail happy/fun to drive on corner exit.
It won't overwhelm you, and is easy to drive, if thats what you're concerned about. No noticeable learning curve on my end.

It'll be more controllable and predictable at the limit and also allow you to carry a drift. This is with all the DSC nannies off.

I noticed the most major difference around long sweepers that allow for gradual acceleration. The LSD makes it a fun dance of finding the edge of adhesion and losing grip.
