6.9 quarts. I just put 7 quarts in when I changed mine a couple weeks ago. I started with 6.5 quarts but the oil capacity gauge was one bar from the max. 7 quarts...perfect.

Bmw recomends bmw twin turbo engine which is 5w-30, however its castrol. Castrol is good, but in independent tests mobil 1 full synthetic holds up better in heat and lifespan. Running conventional oil is asking for problems so id recomend against it. I have friends who run 0w-40 mobil 1 in there m3 on track for 3,500 miles then replace it religously, and there cars run over 200,000 miles like that. Im running pizza deliveries in my 07 335i n54 with the oil cooler and i will not runn anything other than 0w-40 euro fomulated mobil 1, and im driving up to 100 miles a day, changing every 3,500-4,000 miles with jb4 tune. Highly recomend less than 5,000 miles oil changes even with full synthetic. My 96 328i i ran hard and did 4,000 mile 0w-40 oil changes, and it ran as good as the day i got it at 167,000 miles and i ran that thing to limiters at points. Just do 3,500-4,000 mobil 1 euro formula full synthetic oil changes and you engine will run for over 300,000 if you do your other mainence. All my euro car club members agree and have been doing this for along time

Bmw335i oil change
Hello thank you for the detail info. I have a 2008 335i 78,000 miles I’ve always used standard oil. Can I and should I change to synthetic oil? Which oil should I use with either option? Thank you so much for your help

You absolutely need to use synthetic oil--these cars run way too high of oil temps, by design, for dino oil.
Castrol Edge Euro 5w-30 or Mobil 1 0w-40 can be had for a good price at Walmart and are both sufficient for the n54. |
