I hope my wheels are not trashed

So i was stupid and put my wheels on my new car in the winter time so i could see what they looked like on my new 09 335i. Snow came and so did the salt trucks and the salt really messed up my wheels. What can i do if anything to try to get these bad boys to look good again.I no i can get them re-polished but thats expensive so i was thinking some kind of detailing product out there might help me. Can someone recommend something to me and where to get it.

Did you say they're polished? Ouch... salt really does a number on that particular finish.

I have actually spent 2wks (lots of beer and smoke breaks) restoring my Iforged Daytonas with polished lip.

They were pockmarked with water stains and generally bad maintenance for the past year. What I did was to wet-sand the lip with a 2000 grade sandpaper. It would be blurry but it would take out most of the stains & brake dust. I then switch to a finer grade of sandpapper, 2500 grade, and wet-sand them again.

Once done, I used Meguire's NXT Metal polish on a rag and cleaned it up once or twice. Then finally, I used a drill with a sponge attached to it and gave it a once over. As for the inner lip that meets the spokes/rivets, I used a stiff card (ie: Wife's credit card) and wrapped it with a rag and applied NXT on it. The edge of the card managed to get the last bit of brake dust from the edge of the lip!

Keep at it because the result is amazing!

Cheers!

PS: Have lots of beer ready!

Here's some encouragement!

My set after being polished! Just imagine that the inner wheel barrels were BLACK from brake dust and all the lip was etched with water stains and brake dust!
