Radiator hairline crack weld.
I have a hairline crack in the plastic upper radiator to hose connector. It's an n51 2011 328i with SULEV. Has anyone had success with a jb weld type radiator product?

Bruh you guys gotta get the thing you're talking about in focus for these images.
Not sure about jb weld. Probably only to get you by for a bit. The problem is not isolated to just the area of the hairline crack. It encompasses all of the plastic bits of the radiator assembly. I assume it is for the tube that is entirely out of focus in the image you provided. Best regards. |

The cooling system is the Achilles Heal of the entire car, I wouldn't play games with JB Weld and just replace it and the hoses if they're more than five years old.

If you're still covered under the SULEV warranty, the radiator is listed as a covered part. The N51 radiators are a bit more pricey because they include a EAC sensor for emissions and the part is not sold separately as it's integrated onto the radiator.

This is correct. I'll be taking it to the dealer next week. God bless SULEV. Just saved me 700 bucks and an afternoon of work.

And hose plastic ends and fittings are just time bombs, youre head cycling plastic and the plasticizers that keep them from getting brittle leech out over time. Also if you dont do ALL of the hoses make sure and buy the little return hose back to the bottle (also the bottles can split at the seam) because when I touched mine it literally started crumbling in my hand. HOnestly just do the whole thing if you can. All of those plastic fittings holding the hoses in place are going to be due. |
