SirDaft1's New Shoes + Suspension Thread!

Finally gave the 335 some much overdue love. I brought her to LukeG's Werkshop for a full suspension overhaul last week, where the mad scientist installed Koni Yellow's, Eibach Pro Kit Springs, M3 front control arms, new tie rod ends, and Whiteline rear subframe bushing inserts. Then today we finally put the old 162's to rest in favor of wheel that can accommodate some wider meat... a staggered set of 18" Avant Garde M359's w/ 245 front, 265 rear Nitto NT05's.

After a spirited drive this evening I can say that it feels like a whole new vehicle. Turn-in and response is 1,000x times better than before. Much better feel for the road. Just counting down the days until the April 4th opening track day at Autobahn Country Club.

**EDIT- I've had a few ask why I didn't go with 19's. Short answer is for function. I ran a set of 19" wheels on my 335 for one week and I'll say that nothing puts a chill in your bone like then jarring feeling of hitting a pothole and having nothing more than a 30 series sidewall protecting your lovely (expensive) 19" rim. **

A few pics of the new suspension and shoes...

Yes... those are wheel studs. Because racecar

Looks nice and clean. Post more pics please. Especially after the suspension settles.

Very clean!

How do you like the controlled arms? Though I'm sure it's tough to key in exactly how they feel with a complete suspension overhaul. Thinking about picking up a set and having Luke do mine as well.

It is challengong to isolate what exactly contributed which benefits since it was a full overhaul, but I will say that being able to run with 1.2* of neg camber due to the M3 CA's certainly helps build confidence in the turns. I'm considering pulling the pins to see how much more neg camber I can get out of this setup. Thinking it could be in the ballpark of around 2* total neg camber when all is said and done.

Love the list... Only thing that sticks out is how come the m3 rear sway? I've heard that that induces some not very friendly side effects and that it is typically the front m3 sway bar that most people run. Just curious.

Regardless, you'll love the suspension overhaul

Due to a few PM's I've gotten, I added this to the OP as well - I've had a few ask why I didn't go with 19's. Short answer is for function. Beautiful! Did you change anything else such as the shock mounts or bump stops? Others suggested the sway bar end links and bushings too. And what settings do you run for the koni yellows?

Oh yes... I actually ordered the full Cup Kit installation kit from ECS. Here's the link:
http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2622813/

I didn't touch the sway bar end links, perhaps at some point??? And I'm running the Koni's at about 60 firmness. Despite the big overhaul, the suspension still feels oem. No rock hard firmness, no bouncing. Love this Koni Yellow/Eibach combo.

Wow that ECS cup kit comes with a lot of parts. Is it an overkill to change all the nuts and bolts too? Those don't wear out right? I noticed one thing it didn't come with is bump stops. Is it advisable to change them as well? Wonder if I should save a few bucks by using my old ones...

Someone suggested Meyle HD for sway bar end links and another bro suggested Powerflex polyurethane for sway bar bushing since they don't add noise/vibration. I think I'll go that route...

A few shots with the new shoes and suspension from last night. Had a little bit of fun with light painting as well :-)

///M Badges installed on the wheels (thank you Amazon)

More fun with light painting. This is what happens when you use your iPhone flashlight but don't lock the screen so the camera picks up with screen light...

Only a couple of the e30. The e30 tends to be more of a good romp around the track and less of a show queen. Although we have quite a few vids of her out having some fun with GTRs and Porsches. Here's a couple links...
