I was thinking the same thing. It took weeks before my listing went live. This one should be good. Every time I see a wagon I want mine back. This one is dangerously close to me too... Should be a great auction!

I’m very curious to see if your mods have any effect on the selling price. They’re very common mods, so they shouldn’t have much of an effect but it is BaT, so who knows.

Oh hah, no I was asking how much it cost/wallet damage. I didn't even realize it had any actual damage to it. Its not a salvage title is it?

It cost 9300 and it is rebuilt because of that, if it was a bigger hit I wouldn’t have considered a branded title but I think it’s a good deal as is.

The white m sport will surely break numbers on BaT.

Current highest sale on BaT:

http://https://bringatrailer.com/lis...10-bmw-328-18/

There was an S65/DCT car bid to the low 40s, but no sale.

If Brad’s gets close to that blue one, that would be a great sign for the value of these holding up. But it also begs the question of when do you balance owning and driving one of these against maintaining the value.

Looks like the e91 fits nicely in between those two beautiful cars.

I am curious on this too. I was conscious when doing them that all could be put back to stock some day but I am really not sure why anyone would want to. Hopefully where they are almost all BMW parts the BAT crowd will cut me a little slack.

I agree that they make the car better, but the type of person that spends 30k+ on BaT might want a more "pure" car. I don't agree, just that I can see how that buyer might exist. E91s are in a real odd place because their value increase suggests (mild) collectability, but if we are 100% honest with ourselves they are really just a niche model of a car that is EVERYWHERE, and aside from the fact that they are wagons are nothing special.

Whatever. Not complaining; just find it curious. I'll still love mine and hope someone cuts a big check for yours!

We'll find out, but I'd think that in this case, they'd only help. The M Performance Exhaust isn't a mod, it's a factory option. And the 3SIM is of course a factory part designed specifically for this car. That one could be considered a mod, but to me, since it's a part within the same chassis family, it's more of a factory upgrade.

For me, mods are aftermarket items or OEM items from one model or chassis vehicle fitted to a different model or chassis vehicle.

I agree with you, I've just found that the BaT crowd can lean purist. So to them, a "mod" is any deviation from factory delivered baseline. Again, I'm not seeing anything that should hold Brad's car back. I'm guessing... $34500.

True. At this point, seems like BaT has a lot of investors and speculators. I'd think anyone hunting for an E91 like this would have some desire to drive and enjoy it. And as for THIS E91, if it sells for anything close to what most expect it it (>$35-37K), then I can't imagine there'd be much more room for the value to increase. .. I guess that's the speculation part!

I think we might see >$40k for this example.

I’ve stayed away from this thread since it’s turned into a mini-BaT with value speculation being the primary topic. “How much is this example worth” etc…

Future pricing is so difficult to judge. In the late 90’s/early 2000’s E30 M3s had a $15k rule. Could buy a mint one for 15k or buy one for 10k that needed 5k in work. You’d be hard pressed to find a bare chassis for $15k 2 decades later in 2023.

It’s difficult to say if enthusiast ICE cars will continue to hold value / increase as time marches on given the wave in electric. London is effectively banning all but the latest ICE cars, for example. I doubt anything that drastic will occur in the US anytime soon but there could be another cash for clunkers or legislation that makes it objectively ridiculous to own ICE vehicles in the decades to come. E9x’s are around a decade away from being importable from Europe and Japan which could affect values. The rarity of E91s in the US is what largely makes them valuable but they were a dime a dozen in other markets.

FWIW, I bought an E92 new (ordered to get 6MT), then moved to a 6MT E82, then to my unicorn E91. I realized after about a year of daily duties that the E91 was my keeper e9x. Prices were going up for e91s as sedans and coupes followed the normal price regression as the cars got older. I added a second e91 to daily and use as the family car that wasn’t cOlLEcTaBle and have put 45k in 4 years on that vs 20k in 5 on the unicorn.

I think it’s silly to buy a mass produced car as an investment and let it rot in a garage to “preserve value.” I also recognize that cars like the e9x will never be made again and I prefer the experience over driving electric so I want to drive this car as long as I can! My logic is to drive it ~3-5k miles per year so I can enjoy it for the next 40 years vs. 15k a year for the next 10 years. There are a lot more lucrative places to park your money in like cash/s&p500/real estate compared to a 10 year old 3 series imho.

Tldr- drive and enjoy your cars! Each to their own, though.

My search for a daily driver LCI E91 has come to an end for the time being as i’m lucky enough to be the new caretaker of a nicely kept example from Cali (i’m in NY).

Following is a small list I’ve compiled, ranging from somewhat interesting to very interesting examples, that are currently on the market (4/8/23) and haven’t been shared here. Hope this list provides some value to fellow members. Please excuse any typos i’ve made. These were all in my notes app that i’ve just copy and pasted.

really a shame haha. all the ones in the east coast are either soon to be rust buckets or clapped out.

currently waiting for transport to pick up the E91 from SF! excited haha. been a long fan of wagons but finally taking the plunge. sold my E90 M3 for a handsome profit to help fund a business. the manual fit i picked up as a beater is no longer justifyable in terms of comfort but a fun car to toss around. E91 will be replacing the fit. it’s set to be delivered to me 4/17 but we all know most of the time, that estimate is very loose. already accumulating some small nick nacks for it. will be looking for some OEM 328i RWD sport/m sport springs if anyone is selling!
