Is this caliper aluminium?
All the research I did told me it was going to be steel. But it doesn't look like steel. And the piston feels like plastic.
I was going to do a rebuild as it's an old car but all the research told me it will be steel so I bought pistons and rubber stuff for a steel caliper. ![]() |

From what I can tell so far the pistons are plastic not steel and the slider pin rubber sleeves are slightly different as the ones I have are for the steel and I can put them in but the pins are very tight in them, I am going to use the rubber sleeves I have for the rear calipers as they seem to be a good fit.
I am not going to rebuild the calipers as they look ok. Thankfully the new disks and pads are good. So I'll just replace those. |

Use a magnet should tell you if caliper is steel or not. But to my eyes it looks aluminum since it's not as rusted but maybe it just held up well.
