Outline Plan

Friday
Couple of beers and a meal at a local restaurant/pub for anyone who is arriving on the Friday and staying over. Although I live locally and Matt is in Leeds, we'll be happy to meet up with anyone and sort something out.

Saturday
Meet 10.30-11
Drive 11am
Stops en route somewhere for chat/photos etc.
Lunch around 1pm (pub) in or near Holmfirth
Drive and further stops for chat/photos
Return to Halifax for a bit of downtime before the evening lash up

Meet at Wetherspoons for a pre-dinner drink. Evening meal at 3 Olives, drinks around town for those who want to indulge!

Matt and I went recently with our respective partners and we had great food at very reasonable prices. Thought it might make a change from the almost obligatory curry, but if anyone has strong feelings about this please add your comments!

Possible route - this takes in some cracking roads and is centred on Holmfirth as a lunchtime stop.

Sunday is usually a quiet checkout and people usually head home, but if anyone wanted to meet somewhere for lunch I'm sure something could be arranged.

Hope we have a great turnout. The emphasis is on the social side of things rather than tearing up the countryside or showing off our cars, but we do like a pretty spirited drive! More details will follow, but please feel free to comment or ask any questions.

The hotel is part of a modern development which is full of bars and restaurants, so if there is a hotel bar, then it's like as make no odds if the meet is there or at one of the bars.

The most likely venue (speaking for Gav without consulting him here) is the Wetherspoons underneath the hotel (which is at ground level) as it is nice, cheap and prominent.

Can't believe how cheap that hotel is! Assumed it was price per night till I got to the payment screen. Result as that covers the fuel I'll use on the sat

I didn't book the breakfast though because last time we used a Premier Inn the all-you-can-eat breakfast was a bit shoddy. This time I'll have a look first. And who is Spoons?

Wetherspoons.... Nationally recognised cheap beer pubs. No music allowed. Often home of tramps who buy 1 cup of coffee and 16 sugars at 05:30 and then sta there until 16:00 when they are beaten and hounded out by children with fake ID's.

This one is quite nice though, really.

Good to have you on board! There is a Shell garage about 5 minutes away and a Sainsbury's that definitely does super unleaded, but not sure about diesel. I'll check a few more places if I get chance.
