Jealous bastards. I have a "beater" car aside from my 335 that I use to load gear in for work, a mazda3, and that was keyed about a year ago...all four door panels and front left head light. I was sooooooooooooo furious, and I can only imagine how furious i would have been if it would have been my bimmer instead of the mazda. Needless to say, I wanted to kill whoever did it. I basically made a claim through my insurance and reported it as vandalism. I paid my $250 deductable and the car was repaired. Hopefully you have coverage for vandalism and can make a claim through your insurance to get your bimmer fixed. It really saddens me to see this!

Insurance will most likely cover it. I will have to pay the $300 deductible and also have to find a very good body shop so match as close as possible...now im depressed

The good news is that a complete repaint will make the car look like new again. BMW can match the color exactly. Do not bring it to a non-BMW paint shop, and insist that your insurance company pay the cost at a BMW shop.

Wow, don't take this guys advice. If you did a complete repaint, obviously there would be no issues with paint match.

But for panels, 3/4 of the shops, BMW dealer or not, will have flaws in the paint match. Usually 3rd party shops do a better job than the dealer, but you have to find the right one.

That sucks...my sister got several panels of her car keyed, but they were done over the course of two weeks. She never managed to catch who it was...

I think kids are usually the worst offenders, they do $hit like this just for a rush. Either way, I hope whoever did this to you dies in a fire

I just found out that 6 other cars were hit in the same parking lot...I didn't get a look at the other cars but I am pretty sure they couldn't get much worse than mine.

Would you guys recommend I go to a repair shop the dealer chooses or go to a reputable 3rd party repair shop that works on higher end cars?

The only place that does quality work is No.1 Collision in Vancouver and Richmond. They use Padox paint which is what BMW uses at the factory so the match is perfect. All they do is German cars (90% BMW) at the Vancouver store and nothing else. Do not accpect anything other than a complete strip (no filler) and repaint. They will get your car back to OEM finish....i know how much your pissed off as I got my bumper hit two weeks after getting the car.

OMFG!!!!! That has to be the worst. I would look for a body shop that hass experience with painting. I usually try to look at pics on their walls if there are any to see what kinda work they have done.
