Morimoto Retrofitted Xenons

So i have had Depo V1s on my car for the longest time. They were okay....the angel eyes were powered by just 4 LEDs that were yellow in color. The projector was horrible in its cutoff, the lighting was just everywhere blinding people.

A buddy of mine decided to help me with this project. We baked the headlights open and installed a set of Morimoto H1 Projectors as well as a set of 240x LED Angel eyes.

The last two pictures are the "after" pictures

Almost everyone that tried baking them open has ended up melting their headlights.
I can't take that chance. I wish I had the guts to do it because I'd love to spray the inside black & install xenons with projectors & LED angel eyes!

Ive baked 3 sets of headlights and have not melted any of them. Pre heat oven to 250, put them in for about 5-6 mins and bring it out and check on them, put it in for another 5 mins if needed.

Good job on the retro! Any cutoff pics?

Depos can be baked all day. Oems cannot, they have to be cut. E92s might be different.

Yes this is what I meant. OEM headlights refuse to bake open. A dremel is probably the safest route.

That looks great! You should do a matchbox retrofit in your projectors next!

Since your experience say 250F is okay, then it probably is.

I personally stick to 240F or a little lower.

E90s can't be baked open, E92s can.

What you actually want to say is permaseal headlights do not bake open.

Depo V2?

Would these be the Depo V2 with the brighter halo's?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/150878424111...84.m1438.l2649

I've heard fishcake has pretty good stuff -- I have an '07 preLCI 328i

Is this is newest take on doing the AE's with the brighters LED's than what you originally purchased?

As much as I want to get rid of my factory halogens, there are many things I'm looking to do mod wise, so not looking to spend $1K on just the lights - just my preference on how to spend my $

Has anyone bought these exact lights from him?

thanks

I got the V1s and put the angel eyes in myself. Hes got V2's which already come with the LED angel eyes. You can buy those if you wish but im warning you ahead of time that the projectors are horrible. Your lowbeam output will be all over the place and wont be proejected at a good seeing distance either.

Best bet is to purchase and do a retrofit like i did.

Okay...so just to confirm what you're saying -- the housings, etc from fishcake are good (good fitment, quality and plug and play?)
-- just need to replace the angel eyes?

No LOL, the depo headlights are OKAY for fitment. The projectors are horrible! the output of it horrible and all over the place. You will be very annoyed about how far your xenon output will travel (which is not very far) so its tough driving at night if you can see that far ahead of you. The headlights are plug and play yes. The only positive things about these headlights are the appearance and the bright LED angel eyes.

My Depos are special cuz i fixed all those flaws it had with custom work. Hence the whole reason why i posted this thread.

LOL that's what I'm saying - so it's good to buy the DEPOS - just do the retrofit and they will be great? Or are you saying buy a different set of headlights because these take too much work?

yes the Depos are good and easy to work with. Quality to some people would mostly be how well the headlights are sealed. But since you are opening them up, how well you seal them is on you now instead of DEPO.

I haven't heard of other people doing retros in other headlights yet. If you can find a cheap set of headlights for under 100 dollars i say do it if all fails then just purchase depo.
