Hi guys. I've been looking to update my transmission almost 6 month since I notice some issues and finally find appropriate information, I appreciate your work its very helpful and finally I hope it can solve my problem. I already have CARLY Wireless OBDII adapter. My question is if it's possible to perform all that update with wireless adapter or I need one with com port cable? Thanks

Hi and thanks for info. My NCSExpert is still in German also and I did copy over your folders. Any ideas?

I've looked thru the posts but am afraid I missed something - are the links in Post #1 still the ones to use?

Each time I open the BMW Coding Tool (as administrator) the Daten's are no longer there and NCSExpert doesn't launch from the button iat the bottom. This is without the car connected. Is this normal?

Had this same issue with another download from another site.
I'm trying to determine if I have a bad cable.

The buttons at the bottom of the BMW coding tool are just to select the folder that each of those items are installed in. You should have an icon for launching NCS Expert on your desktop and it should open up fine without your cable attached.

Thanks. I can load it up by going to the executable in my C drive. I was just wondering if the Coding Tool was installed ok. How about the Datens? Do they need to be loaded up each time you open the Coding Tool?

When you open NCSExpert from this download, are there 2 profiles Factory Reset and Feature Coding?

Sorry for all the novice questions. I'm wondering if my cable is bad. Hard to believe since it is new and from Bimmergeeks and they have a low fail rate

I'm new at this too, but from what I know once you update the Datens you should be good in NCS, no need to update each time.
The one that I got to work in English which I posted above has Integrated SP-DATEN v53.3 which should be all I need for my 2008 328i so I haven't tried updating Datens. When I do load profile in NCS I get default profile and Dummy NCS profile as choices. I'd go with the Feature coding one I guess, Factory reset sounds scary.

Have you seen this little tutorial?

Thanks for that link. Actually I feel pretty comfortable with the coding having researched it for so long. Of course, it's easy to feel comfortable about something I haven't done. But the coding seems almost intuitive once you've watched enough tutorials. Here are 2 good ones you've probably found:

You don't need to open it as administrator each time, just the initial time and the datens aren't loaded inside the coding tool itself, it's just a program that loads them into the appropriate folders for use by other programs.

If your shortcut for NCS Expert isn't working for whatever reason, go into C>NCSEXPER(_64)>BIN, find NCSEXPER application, left click, right click it, create shortcut, then drag the created shortcut to your desktop. Problem solved.

Just watched that video and it shows how to change the VO. Take this with a pinch of salt, but, I think you can do a lot of coding without changing the VO. VO changes are a bit more involved than just coding. The negative of not changing the VO is that if a shop does some programming on your car the modules you've coded might revert back to the VO.

Thanks, I will check those out. I am trying to activate Bluetooth after adding the handsfree mic and bluetooth antenna to a 2008 328i that has the S640A Preparation f tel.installation universal. Should have a chance to install the two parts and try to activate via coding this weekend. I will let you know how it goes...

From what I read all I have to do after installing the mic and antenna is use NCS to select E89 for the Chassis then add $644 in VO to CAS and NFRM. Then run SG_CODIEREN to the module 2URAD to reset the radio output to match with the car setting. Sounds easy enough....

Good luck with that.

I think I found my car/computer communication issue. I had been disabling internet adapter in earlier attempts. This time I disabled my antivirus and firewall and got connected.

Just coded my battery to the correct Ah for the new battery I put in recently. That was pretty easy but I didn't change the VO. I might tackle that but at least for now the correct charging profile is being used.

I was able to download, follow instructions and install successfully... at least I think its all good

Two questions:

1. Will Carly for BMW USB cable work with the software?
2. Where can I find instructions on how to use the software?

I'm not familiar with their set up, but if it's a KDCAN (INPA Compatible cable), then yes it will work.
2. Where can I find instructions on how to use the software?
There's a sticky thread in this sub-forum that provides the info on how to code.

Thanks!

When I run NCS Expert, choose load profile, I get the option of Factory Reset or Feature Coding. I don't see the expert mode or options being discussed earlier in the thread. I followed the installation directions and copied the directories over. What have I done wrong or misunderstood?

I get the same 2 choices - used Feature Coding.

Let's hope someone who knows more than me chimes in.
