LOL 330i ZHP tires have absolutely no traction!

I was going to get my morning cup of joe, in the residential section I drove relatively slow because it looks as the ice was crowding most of the road. As soon as I hit the main road, it seemed as if the road was now cleared by plows. So I decide to up my speed alittle by about 10-15 mph. Few seconds later, my car is swerving left into the center divider. For some reason my instinct makes me pull the steering wheel in the opposite direction. My car actually misses the divider by about 3-4 mm. I fishtail and regain control of my car.

park your car and get winter/snow tires now. one of the best choices you will make. ask me how i know. that is all.

If you have an E90, you dont hav ZHP wheels on. ZHP is the performance package for the E46. You must be talking about the ZSP (sport package) for the E90...

ZHP ZSP, so many code names. Would it make you happy if I corrected my post title? Plain english, the 330i sports package wheels are not good in snow. I'm amused you take pleasure in correcting people on internet forums.

Ya the summer tires on snow/ice = really bad things! The problem is you'll never find a good set of winter tires this time of year, I know I'm also looking for a set and there are none! Everyones pretty much sold out for the season. Its been well documented here in the forum that the summer tires lose ALL grip in cold temps.
Take it easy this year and get a good set next fall.

Maybe he'll have luck on Long Island. We've has a mild winter so far, and unlike Denver most drivers don't believe in winter tires, just all seasons. Milehigh, I see you have an xi, and know that winter tires are needed to optimize the all wheel drive.

Have you tried to drive this morning? It's absolute madness, windchill is 5 degrees.

It doesn't matter whether it's ZSP tyres or 'regular' tyres. Any summer tyre will lose traction on snow and ice. I found that at out pretty quick about 3 weeks ago.

I know. I couldn't believe the wind last night, just unreal. I don't have an E90 yet. I have a front wheel drive Jetta with snow tires. I just cleared the walk and driveway, but the car is staying parked while I watch some football. I'm not ready to buy for a few months, and want to see what happens with the 335, and if the ZSG transmission becomes available. Good luck getting some snow tires. Hopefully the weather warms up, and we get a pass for the rest of the winter.

No, you're right about the stock Potenzas that come with the ZHP as well. It's suicide driving in the rain or ice with them.

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD GET SNOW TIRES

Well I didn't realize that there were one million instances when people in E90s almost ran into a main road dividers, but if you say so.

Tirerack is still showing Pirelli Winter 240 SnowSports available in the ZSP sizing.

Last night was crazy here in NY. Rain --> sleet --> snow over the course of the evening. Took my 330 to a parking lot and had a great time doing donuts, even w/ the winter tires (Dunlop M3s). Wife wanted to come too: "to make sure you weren't going to kill yourself"...i think she had fun too.

Most people wouldn't be driving with summer tires so no, there aren't a million instances of that.

yea...i realized that when it first snowed...I bought the Avons M550...awesome tires and rather cheap too! Definitely recommend it as well as the Pzero nero M&S

I was in nyc last night went into the restaurant came out snow and freezing temps. Today was cold as well in Jersey windy. Tire Rack is sold out of the wheel/tire package until the end of this month so I'm left with summer tires as well.

Well the forecast is anticipating rain in the next couple of days, hopefully it will wash out all of this horrible weather. I can't even remember the last time weather was this bad. Sure, there had to be times when snow accumulations was worse, but this is insane.
