Now today I go to back out the car and the surging has came back. But it's ever so slightly, not nearly as bad as it was but still there..... wonder why it came back?

Yeah I don't understand.... It's not as bad as it use to be but is still there. I can deal with it, but would still like a permanent fix.

When updating the software with certain BMW tools, some adaptations are retested and help on this issue. I think the key here os the load control adaptation that you can now reset in MHD too. See above. |

Any news yet JB4N Im having the same issues, took it to the dealer and got every possible electronic system updated, including the DME update that was in the SI B12 09 12. The car was having a weird high idle on cold start and it was 100% fixed however it started getting worse with the low speed tuning, I almost hit a car trying to park because of the surge. Im headed to an indy Friday to have them look. But I'm at a loss.

It has to be a sensor that failed or a software issue. My car just developed this issue (idle rpm surging during tight turns) four or five months ago. My car has always had a slight increase in rpm when coming to a stop when the air conditioning is running. The idle speed rpm surging only happens with tight low speed turns, like pulling into a parking space. It doesn't matter if the air conditioning is on or off. Has anyone removed their tune to verify it is not the cause? It seems like this issue started when I transitioned from Cobb to MHD, I could be wrong.
I am really interested to hear what your Indy has to say. |

Tomorrow is the day hopefully I'll have answers that I can share with you all. I'll mention sensors, the guys I use will let me sit and talk to them for hours and just pick their brains. (No charge) any way I am not tuned never have been and I have no mods other than an axle back exhaust. Today I was at a drive thru and noticed it if I turned the wheel and left it there it would surge up and down. I put it over in M and shifted up to 2nd and had absolutely no issues. Not sure what that means but am going to mention it tomorrow. Keep your eyes open I'll post something about my Indy experience.

Also doing some research, has anyone looked into it perhaps being a power steering issue, like a pressure switch or anything there? I know imprezas have been known to have erratic surging when the power steering acts up. Just throwing ideas out there.

Did your Indy find out what is causing the steering rpm surge?

So Indy has found a couple things, the steering surge is almost def a programming issue, but we cant be sure yet due to finding that my entire belt system being messed up. Turns out my Harmonizer was wobbling, causing other pulleys to be thrown off, more than likely means nothing for the RPM surge at turning but need to have it fixed to be sure. If problem continues, I have found a shop that will reset adaptations and dig around the programming. Ill keep you updated.

I've been having this same issue. I tried doing the load controller adaptations rest, but that didn't seem to solve the problem. It would be awesome if someone can pin point what is causing this.

Got to bump this.
I can't believe there hasn't been a solution to this yet. Seems like it's been discuss for a while. I've seen multiple threads on a few different forums dedicated to this issue. There was recently a mention on the MHD thread. Hopefully the MHD crew are looking into a solution. I just cant accept that surging when backing out slowly is normal. Anyone have any news on this?
