2010 iDrive Navigation Update

I currently have a 2010 w/ iDrive.

I would like to update the navigation to the 2016 maps.

Reading on forums it says I have to purchase a CD for this or stick in a usb with the correct files? Either way it seems like I'd have to purchase something.

I currently do not have a CD inside for the my current navigation.

Does anyone have experience with updating their iDrive? If so, what procedure(s) did you have to do?

Thanks!

In your glove compartment is a USB port. You have to buy the map-pack download it onto a USB drive and stick it into the port. You'll have to enter a password that comes with the map-pack before the installation starts.

Download the maps, pay for or grab your own FSC code with an enet cable.

I'll have to look into this, I've got the original 2011 maps in my car and figured I'd have to pay to get them updated!

I bought the code from someone on this forum and did the 2015 maps back then. Might do this again for 2017. Assuming I can't reuse the same code?

A $5 Enet cable and a read through of a thread in the coding forum will get you a lifetime FSC code. Seriously, it's so easy to get do it yourself.

Actually now you can grab the FSC without using an enet cable.

Enjoy fellas.

Might want to check if your car falls under time frame where the CIC firmware doesn't allow you to update the maps completely. Mine always freezes at 96% and cannot be completed unless I get the CIC firmware updated.

You must be at firmware level c16. c1A (The latest) should have no issues.
