"Recalls begin Dec 18" - Merry Christmas!

By Dec 20th, Canada will be out of stock of the replacement parts, just watch, relax, and try not to catch fire.

And they still don't have airbags yet.

Has BMW Canada even announced this recall yet? The article makes it seem like these two recalls only apply to the US.

That wouldnt even suprise me especially considering how smoothly this airbag recall is going.

FWIW looks like they have:

"Recall Campaign No. 2017-470: blow-by heater (11 85 17RC)"

You can punch in your VIN here to confirm whether your car is affected:

Transport Canada has had this up since late September

http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/...rchResult&pg=0

The second recall isn't listed on the website.

Has anyone received any notice of actions or know if parts are available?

Wow. This actually happened to me. Started the car one day and noticed a lot of smoke entering the cabin. Popped the hood and the heater core was burning a hole in my intake Manifold. Dealer replaced the Manifold and the heater. Been a few years since then.

Looks like the blower motor harness recall finally showed up on bmw.ca. Has anyone had any success in getting a rental car?

I'm wondering about this as well. I know most American members have been going into their dealerships, signing some papers, and walking out with a loaner vehicle until the parts for the recall have arrived. I have tried contacting BMW about the loaner vehicle and they haven't started to budge yet, but I'm still working on them!

I know in my letter from BMW Canada, they don't mention anything about a loaner vehicle. However, in many of the American members letters, they say that alternate transportation will be provided.

I feel as if BMW USA is much more scared of a lawsuit than BMW Canada, which makes sense because anything that moves down there tends to get slapped with a law-suit.

So has anyone had any luck in getting a rental/loaner here in Canada?

Around a month ago before I heard about the recalls i was driving my brother to the mall and he said that the temp in the cabin was too hot and i felt it as well but did not say anything because he came from Calgary ( lower temp ) so i thought he was ok with the temp.... i checked the temperature control but It was set to 22*c AUTO as usual and had to lower it to 16* because we were fried .... Now this a daily issue , i have to play with the temp control every day. I called BMW to ask them if this problem is related the recalls and they said they have no idea and want me to pay $400 for diagnostic . Has anyone experienced any cabin temperature problems before the Code118517RC- Code618317RC recalls ?

This is how the connectors/wires look like... why are the wires a bit darker close to the plastic connector ? Is that ok?

I'm in Toronto and I have the same temp in the cabin gets hot too at auto 22*c.

I went into the dealer yesterday for them to look at mine and they refused because they said they didn't have the part in, i was so upset that i was booked for an appointment in the first place. I spoke with the manager and she offered me a free wash for the inconvenience and advised me as soon as the part becomes available i will be contacted

The wires are darker near the connector, probably because they're heating up where the terminals are crimped to the wires. This could be a perfect example of what the recall is meant to correct.

I went to the dealer a week ago to see if they can do this recall or the airbag.

Advisor, called parts department and checked if they had parts in stock. Of course no parts in stock. I was told to keep checking if the part becomes available.
I called again yesterday, still parts not available.

Yesterday I received an official BMW recall letter regarding the connector. It states that they are not ready to perform these recalls yet, and that I would be notified when ready. Meanwhile if you notice smoke or burning plastic smell, they advise for you to pull over and call bmw roadside assistance. You will need to pay for the tow, however if the problem is recall related then bmw will reimburse you for the tow.
