Clay Bar

Finally decided to give this a try for the first time ever, and see what happens with 10 year old paint, needless to say it came out really smooth before waxing, and super smooth after waxing. Just took some time, effort, elbow grease and a few beers.

Ceramics Coating is next, hopefully this weekend, weather pending as its been hot as hell this week.

It's pretty amazing isn't it?

I just wash the car, rinse it, then wash it again while i clay bar it with the othe rhand and Bam, rinse / dry and done. Looks so good.

My first clay bar was bought from a local auto store, what a freaking rip off, it was like 40 or 50 bucks.

I have a stock of bars now. let me know f you need one ad I can sell it cheap. Brand 3m

Ya amazing is really the right word, to have your car feel so dam smooth.

I used Chemical Guys Clay Bar & Synthetic Lubricant, good deal on Amazon right now for $27

But with how rough my paint was I went through almost a full bottle of the lube, normal for how my car was, I am not sure, but the end look and feel it was money well spent.

You can also just use soapy water instead of the clay lube.

Yes I know but the kit was cheap. There are a lot of options to use other then the lube, but being the first time I wanted to do it "the right way"

Mitt is the way to go, so much faster then using an actual clay bar.

You really don't need to buy the lube just the clay bar. I've been detailing for a few years now and moved on to ceramic coating. When you clay bar you can use some fresh clean soap water which is much cheaper and just as effective or better... happy detailing everyone.

amazon sells a 4 pack of clay bars for $10. get some chemical guys spray wax or lube in bulk, still cheaper than autozone "kits".

OP, just wait until you get into machine waxing... I just got the random orbital buffer from Harbor freight... brought my metallic black 335 back to life, looks amazing. also did my wife's space gray x5 and then both my parents cars and my inlaws cars.. It's addicting to see how good they come out with 3-4 passes of a machine.

Did you put the ceramic coating on top of the wax?

you can buy claybars on aliexpress for $7 buck or less and use your car wash soap, but thicker, for lube.
