E60/E61 IDrive Knob Retrofit.

After doing a little research i desided that this knob

is definitely the next upgrade. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this particular knob or knows how hard of a mod this will be?
After searching the forum the only idea on how to do this ,was in this post http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190814.

Can this be done the same way or do i have to do some creative thinking?

No doubt it can be done the same way. But I just removed the plastic piece from the M3 knob and filed it down on from the top of the plastic connector until it was low enough to fit well on my E92 iDrive. Works and looks great. If the version you are looking at has the same connector you may be able to do the same. No need to machine the e92 knob to fit inside.

I think I know the post your referring too,but it wasn't a diy.dude was selling them for 175 ,plus he's banned now so I can't pm him :/
