Quite within your rights Mike

BTW, I checked my Nav version - its 2009

Interestingly, when driving through London a few days ago my sat nav screen changed to 3d, bringing me to think that I must have the newest software.

The 3D buildings should work in most cities. It always works in Nottingham and I was running 2008 v2.

On a quick trip to Blackpool (don't ask), the tower was quite funny to see, they seem to put more detail on such landmarks

Next on my 'list of things to do'

I take it you chose to download the disks, rather then buy them from bmw?

Yeh, we're on an better BB tariff now, and have an automated bit torrent client that runs itself on our NAS at home (configurable from anywhere), so no need to have computers on to download.

Works a treat!

Just got my code, 50eur well spent!

OT:

QNAP - amazing NAS boxes, had our TS209 pro II for 3 years, our model isn't current anymore, but its similar to the 219pII unit here: [urlhttp://www.qnapstore.com/?dt_catalog=qnap-ts-219p-ii[/url]

You can go Pro level for more features, or 4xx level for 4 drive etc..

As well as being great network drives they're a web server, Itunes server, FTP server, Bit torrent client, UpNP server, security camera server, web based file system management with remote operation, twonky media server, printer server, auto cloud backup server..... the list goes on.

We ordered ours with two 1TB WD enterprise grade HDDs in Raid 1 mirrored for security, you can hot swap a faulty drive too if you need to replace and it just replicates the RAID mirror back on to the new drive without any loss of data, and the drives are continuously monitored for errors and it will send you an email if there's a problem detected! - like a pukka commercial server.

Its the centre of all our home network, and our business file server & business website host too. All devices connect to it for music, video, printing the lot.

Genius, and all for about £400 all in!

You know you want to

I've read on GPS underground about burning errors on discs 3, some fixed it with better quality DVDs or slowing it to 1 or 2 x, some with a different burner, but seems to be a disc 3 issue.

I found that the first set I burnt at full speed were flaky and couldn't be read reliably by the headunit. These were decent quality Verbatim discs as well. I suppose it could have been the burner in my laptop, but I didn't have another to hand to try.

Anyway, I burnt a second set at 1x speed and everything worked fine.

TBH I would alway burn high density discs (i.e. DL DVD) as slow as possible, and tick the 'verify data after burning' check box too. (and of course make sure the disc is closed / completed after burning)

Then you know it should be ok.

Interesting - did you also have an error on disk 3 before trying the update?

I had multiple errors on disc 1 at 18.5%. As I was on a long drive anyway and had no option to just burn another there and then I kept retrying and it went through. Disc 2 was no problem and then disc 3 did the same at about 89%. Went through aftter a few goes though.
