There are a lot more cost effective means to making more power. BIG turbos are where the BIG power is going to be. The results from going from a 3.0L to 3.2L or 3.3L just isn't going to be worth the costs involved.

In fact, even the biggest turbo option available on the Vishnu/FFTEC isn't exactly impressive. Good powerband and daily driveability? sure. Monster power? no.

I think Dzenno has the most upgraded N54, and the only "internal" he's made any changes to is a custom port & polish to the cylinder head. Before we start stroking the engine, I feel like it makes a LOT more sense to to a "standard" internal components upgrade (lower compression, forged pistons & rods with ported cylinder heads) & a real TT upgrade (going beyond a stock frame turbo).

VAC motorsports has upgraded internals. I would start from there.

Stroking a motor is usually good for adding torque to motors that are square, the N54 already has a long stroke and is a torque monster. Don't bother, as everyone said. Forged dished pistons, rods, etc is what is next. But your RB's are not getting you even close to what the stock motor can handle. Leave the motor as is unless you have big plans in the near future.

We stock N54 pistons and rods. CP, Arrow, Carrillo.

Care to comment on the stock internals of our N54's? I have heard numerous rumors on several different boards claiming that some model years of the N54 already come with forged internals. For example a 08' N54 already has forged rods and crank but the pistons are cast. Not trying to de-rail this thread but your post intrigued me to ask you. -Nick |

Hey Nick,
Check this thread for my comments: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...541474&page=10 Forged pistons or not, they are obviously stout!! More people will start pushing the limits and the stock units will fail. Even the 2JZ stock internals fail

Do people feel that the N54 is a really good platform for monster HP? and when I saw Monster HP, I think of 800-1000 HP 2Jz's and some of the ridiculous EVO's.

Honestly, just about any platform is capable monster power. It's just in how much money you're willing to spend. Whether it's a VW beetle or Honda civic or Toyota Supra...
