There is no OBD data for that in the 335d. It is a BMW specific parameter.

I found this post thru google search. DWR, thanks for sharing. I have the N55 engine in my X5 and use Torque App and trying to get accurate boost readings. Does the custom Boost PID work on the N55 engine also? I know my max may not be 35, but I could change that to like 15 or 20.

As for transmission temp, I think it has to do with the 6 speed transmission used in the d models. I can see transmission temp in my 8 speed, X5 35i. Another member on a different forum wasn't able to see transmission temp on their 6 speed X5 35d as it was greyed out.

I had the opportunity to try the custom PIDs and only two of them worked. The MAF and another one, I don't remember which one but the boost didn't generate a reading.

omgboost, if you have Tool32 you can determine the addresses that are appropriate for your ECU.

Hmm, I think Tool32 may have been included in the download for coding the car but I haven't used it in ages since I don't think my cable worked. I'll probably have to live with the stock boost reading Torque gives.

The N55 normal max boost is around 7-10 psi from what I gathered and when I floor it, Torque does give me readings within this range. I'm curious as to whether I need to adjust volumetric efficiency from the regular 85% to something higher. I also have a piggyback tune so I don't know if that will give me different readings, but if it does, the Torque boost reading would seem low.

Would it be possible to get a custom PID with oil temp?

335d has an oil pressure switch and an oil level sensor. I'm not aware of an oil temperature sensor.

Really? I just assumed there was since I know that is a parameter that can put the n54 in limp mode. I noticed there were no PIDs for oil pressure either, I guess just no one is worried about monitoring the oil system.

Oil cooing ...
There is an oil-to-air heat exchanger. The design is comparable to that of a coolant radiator. Also, oil-to-coolant heat exchangers are used in the engine oil and transmission fluid heat management system. They ensure the oil heats up rapidly in the cold, while controlling overheating.

Only so many ADC inputs. Emissions has a good share of inputs. Can't monitor everything.

DPF Press Diff

I have been using DWR's October version of his extended PIDs (thanks again DWR!). I have noticed that often times the DPF Pressure Differential reading spikes to the maximum value (95) for a second or so. When this happens it will typically spike repeatedly every 5 seconds or so. This behavior usually happens when the engine is cold but occasionally when warm.

When working, the reading (under full throttle/boost) is around 2.0 freshly after DPF regen and it will reach mid/upper 5s right before regen.

Anybody seeing similar behavior to my spiking reading??

Yes. There is an "offset" error that is common as well as noise in this measurment for low/no pressure conditions. So under no/low flow it's possible that the "pressure" will flip to look like a "vacuum" due to these errors and the resulting measurement flips to that extreme value.

I've taken a lot of data on this behavior, and how to correct the sensitivity for ambient conditions, for my sensor. It's a very useful sensor for measuring all types of airflow characteristics ...

Lots of info here if you're interested and a link to a manufacturers pdf where I got a lot of the equations to describe behavior sensitivities.

While it is not relevant to TorquePro the Carly app does have an oil temp reading...two of them actually. I believe one provides gibberish and the other gives an accurate reading.

basically within 5 to 8 degrees of "engine temps". I sometimes wonder about the German to English translation issues with Carly.

You may modify the custom PID for Boost by changing the ID. Find "170" in the Boost PID and change it to "10B". "1" designates the OBD Mode and "0B" is the ID, as in the list above.
Where do you get this sensor ID list? I'm at wit's end trying to edit a version that will work with my Canadian 335i. When I google "bmw 335i ECU PID list" I get nothing useful. Most results having to do with PID control systems. I've already edited the csv to convert the units to read Celsius for temp and Kg/min for mass flow. The custom PIDs load nicely into torque, but I'm getting no data on the dials either way. Mine's probably a English translated version of the Euro ECU. When I use 'Deep OBD for BMW' app to scan the ECU, everything comes up in German. Or maybe it's a different list altogether since mine's not the diesel version. If I knew it's ID, I'd make a custom PID dial just for the TMAP variable and place it next the original dial for manifold pressure. That way when the manifold pressure exceeds the MAP reading limit, I can simply observe the charge pressure instead.

I have gotten a fair number of requests for non 335d PID sets.
While I would like to help everyone get better datalogging, that was not the purpose of my post. As I have mentioned before, the information can be extracted from Toolset32. That's how I did it. Unfortunately, I am not expert in the data structures for other BWM models. Moreover, I am not inclined to do the research, as I have plenty on my plate already.

Very sorry this stuff is so difficult. You may want to make a contribution to Pheno and get his Testo software. That is another source of info. Good Luck.
