Thank you John802. I have an auto 325i E90. The jerk is still there after 18000 miles. Not as bad as new but, I think it is because I have learned how to brake to avoid it. I plan to have it addressed at my next dealer visit. |

ok, so i have been paying more attention, and the jerk is still there. but to me it's pretty subtle now (i currently have 10k miles). jerk was a lot stronger when the car was new.

Thanks. PS... I drove my car the other day and disengaged the DSC (by pressing and holding the buttom for like 2-4 seconds). It seems as though the brakes are not as sensitive as it was on. It helps a little. I don't know if the bump/jerk is still there, didn't drive it quite often. Anyone got the same experience? |

Try starting and stopping with the hand brake up just enough to illuminate the "brake" light on the dash. Read somewhere else on the forums where the use of the handbrake disables "start assist" and "soft stop".

The problem I had was that when I come to a full stop while the brake is fully engage, the car feels like it wants to move forward slightly. |

i hate depressing foot brake at traffic lights with an auto car.( i was told regular D to N and N to D at lights is bad for auto. )
i also dislike the slight jerk when u switch from N to D at the lights and the slight jerk when u release foot brake in D when stationary. auto cars are definitely not for me. |

everyone having the jerking problem, try turning DSC off, if it still does it, go further by turning DTC off. Tell us your results after testing that.
btw, this isnt a thread about manual is better than autos... if you're not going to contribute to this conversation, then please spare us the "my manual is perfect" post. |

There is no way a 6-MT will jerk.
The stick should be in neutral before coming to a complete stop, unless the "jerk" comes from braking,

Is it when the car is downshifting from 3rd to 2nd you feel the jerk or is it just in the braking? I had this issue in my transmission on my 325i. I took it in and they said the firmware's idling software was messed up. They flashed it and it's been fine since.

This sounds similar to a problem I had with my 03' 330Ci, although a bit different. My car suddenly jerked when stopping but I think it was more of a sudden down shift from 3rd to 2nd.
The BMW dealership loaded a firmware update that fixed the issue. You should find out if there is a new firmware out for your car and make a big stink about getting it. It takes them about a couple of hours to load the new firmware and if something screws up during the update (unlikely, but possible) they will have to replace the computer which is why they shy away from doing it. If you complain like I did I'm sure they will take care of you. |

my brakes used to jerk a little bit and sqeek under light braking at low speeds with my auto, but now its perfectly fine, no sqeaks, no jerks, i just used less engine braking for 2 weeks so i can use my brakes more often and that solved the issues

335i and "Soft-Stop" issue
Good forum knowledge regarding this problem. So much that the dealer (Sonnen) could not figure it out. The "soft stop" problem description sounds very similar to my experience. Dealer blamed this on the factory service bulletin recall for the fuel pump. Doesn't seem to be as noticeable lately. Will disengage DSC for further tests and report back.
