The silicone arrived yesterday which will allow us to button up installation on the first prototype, hopefully tomorrow night. We'll post pictures and results as they come.

well everything is on the car, install was very straight forward and everything lined up and fit perfectly. as for results we took the car out on the highway last night and did some pulls with 72 degree ambients the highest ait we saw was 86 degrees. I am very happy with everything

next step is to take the FMIC off and set up the mandrels for the custom silicone and extensively log the factory intercooler, then test against this intercooler. This thing has alot more ambient surface, core area and mass than the factory setup so it should perform better in every aspect(temp drop-pressure drop-back to back to back testing and recovery). it also looks alot more impressive in the nose of the car

we were going to try and maintain the factory O-ring couplers but one look inside changed our minds as they neck down to less than 2 inches.

Helix should be releasing pricing and purchase information shortly on this product and we hope to have another prototype on a higher boost car for drag testing as well.

Looks fantastic. Is there a bumper that allows for the show of the intercooler more? Something along the lines of Suby Sti's and such. I love the look of it!

There are several other post currently where the car made 68whp and 71wtq. We tracked the car and it hit a lowest et of 12.82 and highest trap of 113mph. She is a winner!

I have a hunch the 335i's oil cooler is purely a mechanical unit with no fan. And I'm in no way disparaging the Helix intercooler, but I echo the observation many others have made that an upgraded oil cooler seems like the more immediate need for the 335i. I would think the upgraded cooler the Bathurst 335i ran could be productized, if it isn't already.

I didn't mean it had a fan, just a thermostat to short-circuit it at low temps (also helps bringing up the engine temps up quickly), but which would open at a preset temp to start flowing the oil through the cooler.

Just like the small and large thermostat-driven water circuits in the engine...

Gotcha. And I do believe you're right. The oil cooler feed/return lines appear to be solenoid controlled:

the intercooler made 22whp!
we are very happy although not surprised to see how well the intercooler performed

we will be posting datalogs of AIT from the stock to helix intercoolers, the results are eye opening!

Here is a chart based on the datalogs from that dyno day. Ambiets were about 65*F. These aren't the best or worst for either of them. The chart was based off the average performance for both intercoolers.
