i believe its more likely for having competition cause he said its good for F1 itself also.. Bottas is a very fast guy but not in the league with Lewis.. he s still making weird mistakes during the race.. im not saying it because he had a half spin yesterday.. Nico was pushing 120% for getting that championship.. i strongly believe that he wasnt sure he could that again.. Nico is just an overhyped driver for me..

In which driver's place?
LH is going nowhere, and should Bottas be replaced, they will put Ocon in his place.

I rather see him in a Ferrari in 2 years time, in place of Vettel.

Vettel...”Where the hell was I to go?”

How about don’t go off the track in the first place.

For what it is worth, I dont agree with the stewards at all. Vettel had nowhere else to go, as he wasnt in control of the car. The FIA has become soft.

He made a mistake...cut the corner...then his mistake forced him acrossed the entire track from left to right.

Mistakes have consequences.

Not that easy in a race. Shit happens.

this decision is controversial but there are few facts on the race..

1. HAM pushed him to make a mistake VET made a mistake..
2. yes Vettel was struggling but after fully getting the control of the car back.. he didnt try to leave space he made line even wider to squeeze.. if he wouldnt do it like that i d clearly say Vettel was a victim.. but this way things are not clear.. i believe deep inside VET knows it also..
3. i wished HAM could overtake on the track but seems car was boiling pretty much didnt help him to do it..
4. VET made another mistake again a big one.. 4 times world champ making too much critical mistakes..
5. this incident will be talked all week..

First of all ...Great race from MAX again !
But the 5 sec. penalty for Vettel is the biggest BS in F1 I ever seen

Yeah....Probaly the marshals saw that HAM got some dirt on his tires from VET his mistake on the curbstone ...
*Ridiculous*

Whoever says Vettel cut the corner and/or squeezed Hamilton off the track after gaining control of the car has clearly not watched the onboard footage of Vettel OR Hamilton during the incident. If you have f1tv, the time is 1:08:20. Watch both onboards.

This was easily going to be the best race of the season, but the stewards ruined it.

Agreed, he was still sliding until nearly the wall when he straightened out. Wider track and it wouldn't have been an issue or slightly faster corner and Hamilton would have been able to cut inside. Cheeky on Vettel to swap the position markers when he came back out of the tunnel. Impressed by the respect Vettel and Hamilton showed each other for sure. Not that it was Ham's call.

im not saying decision was right but its not wrong also.. especially after seeing this picture.. car is fully under control that VET even had a chance to look at the mirrors.. 4 wheels are aligned nothing out of shape at that moment at all.. if he d try not to block.. he absolutely could.. he continued towards to wall..

so this is pure blockage.. it doesnt make sense to say VET was a victim.. everything started and ended with him with this incident.. its like 50/50..

Hopefully Vettel's fire after the race will reinvigorate him and the team the rest of the way. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get a fine for moving the placards afterwards but worth it IMO.
And he needs to stop the unforced errors!

Pic shows the moment when VET got his Ferrari back straight and under control (great driver skills from VET) While HAM tried it inside with his move on VET , while there was no place to be ...completely over the curbes !

The 5 sec. penalty is BS !

That's a still image though. It says very little about the incident. Watch the onboard footage from both driver's for actual detail.

As for blockage, this penalty is for unsafe reentry. It had nothing to do with blocking. The blocking rule is about making more than one direction change to hold position. Unless you consider Vettel's rear end swaying constantly until he reached the outside of the track more than one change of direction while attempting to hold Hamilton behind, this had nothing to do with that rule. Maybe you can argue that Vettel is very skilled at making his car look out of control and wobbly while maintaining control (many people would disagree from the past two seasons ).

I think the penalty sets a bad precedent. Chasing an opponent and needing to lift off to prevent contact when your target gets crossed is one of the oldest exciting elements of racing. There should be as much acclaim for Vettel recovering as for Hamilton creating the pressure.

Yup. Fantastic driving by vettel to recover smoothly and keep the lead, only for it to be taken away via penalty. Fans have been saying how boring F1 has become for a while now and when something exciting finally happens they find a way to ruin it.
