Bad MPG: potential coolant temp issue?
BMW 330d 2006 Auto, M57 engine.
So I just bought a 330D and noticed the MPG wasn’t too good. No other problems noticed other than the mpg. I Thought it improved but it hasn’t. It usually gets around 31mpg on a 30ish mile trip. A/B roads and dual carriage way driving with a little start stop. Apparently that can be down to coolant temp, is this correct? As from looking on this forum, it points to a coolant temp issue. So I’ve checked the temperature in the hidden menu; The temps: 48 degrees idling for 10 mins after cold start 15 mins of town driving plus a dual carriage way blast to get the temp up, hottest it got to was 76 degrees Then left to sit again and idle for 10 mins after drive and temp was at 89 degrees Is the above MPG and temps bad? If so is the themostats/temp sensor the problem? What is the fix? If there is a link to a thread, that would be great. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks! People's driving styles vary greatly, from what I've read that various deiselists have posted mpg is anything from 26mpg to mid 40's for a 330d
I believe temps should be between 88-91 degrees after 15 minutes of driving, don't let your car sit idling regularly to 'warm up' it won't do it any good long term. If your cars not getting up to temp renew the thermostat.

Cheers! Don’t suppose you know if there is a good thread or video about how to replace them?
