Pics speak a thousand words. If he has agreed to fix his F**k up i would give them one more chance. If the work is not to your satisfaction tell them you will post there work on every car forum in the uk. One bad job is equal to 100 good ones. Hope you get a satisfactory conclusion.

I personally would ask for a refund instead and go elsewhere. Welds should not look like that. Even If that is a bad weld for them a good weld will still not be to an acceptable standard.
also the way they have joined the pipe is not how a professional exhaust builder would join 2 pipes together.

Go elsewhere and disclose the company. As i would want anyone with welds or joins like that on their cars.
Ok, only fair. The Company is callled Thorney Motorsport and I will give them one more shot and this time the car won't leave until it's 100%.

The work was done by a Powerflow Garage! That's the worst bit!

Totally agree! Once the work has been rectified I will post some pics, never expected a Powerflow dealer to do such bad work....

Personally I would demand a full refund for the 'work'. That welding and tip alignment is a total disgrace. Its clear that the job carried out by this 19 year old was not even checked over by a more senior fabricator, which it should have been as he is obviously not a trained fabricator. And the fact that he welded the exhaust hanger was welded to the chassis confirms the fact that this person is totally inexperienced in fitting exhausts. I know everybody needs to gain experience, but his work should be checked over before the company considers the job to be complete. This is my personal opinion anyway.

Welding a hanger to the chassis isn't a lack of experience, it's a compete lack of common sense, and as for that joint, words fail me, the lad should not have been left to practice on a customers car. It isn't just a shoddy job, that joint is potentially dangerous!

I completely agree with you, but if they decide to trust this guy then no surprise that they will have to do it again, such a shame I am on holiday next week. Really want to get the car back to them ASAP and have this sorted.

I was so surprised to see such poor work as all the other vehicles they've done look really good, this is their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Power...372575?fref=ts

I had a Powerflow exhaust done years ago on a G60 Corrado I owned at the time. The place in Birmingham did an awesome job. I wouldn't have thought that simply welding together pre-mandrel bent bits of stainless steel was rocket science. Evidently, in this case, I was wrong.

Give Thorneys one opportunity to sort it and then go for a full refund.

The way they've done it looks like the add-on pipe is just a dummy or did they cut the side out of the main pipe - it's a crazy joint

Them welds are shocking!

This post on their facebook page made me laugh

"Shocking what we take off some cars. 4" system from a Supra, dreadful welds, even welding to a flxi pipe, really really poor."

Apparently they have used a Y section, but it seems it's been butchered to death....

I know, couldn't believe it, haven't got myself to comment on my car yet as I want them to carry out the work first....

Thorney Motorsport. As in the Vauxhal specialist. Wow! I would not have expected this from them at all. The last show i went to with a friend was a VW one and they had a company there with amazing work. Lots of celebs go there and they made exhausts for film set cars. They based somewhere near st Albans. Try them. If me I would not be letting Thorney have another go with bad work like that.

Talking

Sorry it's been so long, but after returning from my holiday I had the car sorted today!

So happy with the result, John the owner took me through the reason for the "ugly" weld was that it's a MIG weld and to a TIG weld which is what they would normally do, but because the area is under a lot of stress he used the MIG method, as I don't have a clue in regards to welding I accepted his explanation and we had a look at the car. He offered right away to take everything out and do it again from scratch , but I didn't see the point as I was only un-happy with the Y-section and the alignment of the tips. Two hours later and the issues were resolved.

I must say, John is a top bloke and so polite and helpful! I have read a few threads about his work on other forums, but he was just so helpful and triple checked with me before he took my car of the ramp, maybe next time he will do it the first time round lol

Anyway, these are the two pics I took this morning whilst the car was still on the ramp, I wanted to keep the strength of the Y-Piece so the weld is nice and solid now and it looks pretty good as well, much better then before.

That looks significantly better than the first attempt. Good result in the end.

I have a good friend who is a welder and he says...

"Thats the worst weld I've seen in my life, is it even a weld?"

Me personally I would not let whoever done it, do it again but I'm sure there is an explaination .

EDIT: Much better on 2nd attempt!

2nd attempt not bad. But still the y pipe is terrible. No need to have done it like that. And now you have unequal flow.

The flow is bang on from both tails, on idle both blow a equal amount of fumes
