Anyone else find it interesting that the reviews of the 335, written vs. video, are nearly contradictory.

It seems like in the 2 videos on page 1 of this thread, the 335iS is awesome.

Only to be nearly torn down on virtually 50-75% of the four or so written reviews...

The reason is simple because there will be buyers. People will buy anything if it's properly marketed to them. Some of us see through the marketing BS that relates to this car, and some don't.

Some people would look at that as money to put into the N54

I personally would rather have a loaded 335is DCT over a stripper straight stick M3. Now, if they (N54) weren't stupid easy to tune, I would NOT in a million years think to get a 335is over an M3 - it's the tuning part that is the big deal with this car. Just me though. I think it's a cool niche market car. Be happy with your M3; believe it or not, it's not everyone's cup of tea for a 3 series (it's mine but only loaded to the nuts at 73K which is more than I'd like to spend right now).

Nick

I understand the tuner market argument, and what little I know about tuning, I've heard the 335 is much easier to tune than an M3, but how much $$$$ are you going to have to spend to make a 335i or a 335is on par with an M3???? And I'm not just talking straight line speed.........I'm talking the handling as well. I'm guessing a heck of a lot more than $7 or $8k. I know guys who have tuned their 335i and it is as fast as my M3 but doesn't handle anywhere near as well. And they've voided their warranty to boot. A freind of mine had to charge $3k to his Visa for repairs on his car because the dealer told him the mods he had made voided his warranty. Unless you are mechanically inclined and can do the work on the car yourself, your going to be spending a lot of $$$$$$.

Yeah. I like my E90, actually wanted it more than the M3 for DDrivability. And its quick

But each manufacturer has their fans, and these cars are going to sell. Guaranteed.

It's not a matter of buying anything that's marketed to you, properly/correctly, as you mentioned.

It's more a long the lines of this car offers increased performance with factory fit/finish, a warranty, and better gas mileage than an e9x M3.

I think this car has an exclusivity factor as well. With the majority of the e90's already flooding the streets; the iS is something different, albeit slightly, but still something different.

It's kinda sad the majority of the posters are shooting the iS to shit; granted the majority of the posters have modded their 335s. I applaud BMW for having the ability to recognize the BMW "tuning scene" and present a product that has been fairly well thoughtout.

I can't comment as to why the suspension was not upgraded, nor the brakes, but would bet cash there's a solid reason as to why. The stock 335 brakes are quite powerful and for a modest hp bump, why try and mess with an already awesome brake setup? I'm also willing to bet with sport tires and lighter wheels the handling will be better off the bat, even with the same sport suspension.....

Just my 2 cents....but there's no point in pointless bashing of a car we haven't even seen the production version of.

If anything, I think all this press gives BMW a chance to adjust any pre-production "bugs" and offer a true performance package for the e9x 335 chassis-

Believe what you want but I talked to the dealer and he told me run-flats and it's also indicated in the official Product Bulletin from BMW. Take a look:

Looks like Dakota leather is standard on the iS.

And, point of clarity, 0-100kmh ≠ 0-60mph. So don't freak, the 5.4 0-100 is equivalent to 5.0 0-60. Which, given the extraordinarily conservative data that BMW tosses out, will translate into sub-4.5 sec times in the rags. It wouldn't shock me to see C&D get 3.9 secs.

I think by saying "Performance Tires" it's just indicating that they're not all-seasons.

Could be either way, I just don't see how runflats are performance oriented in any way.

All good though, thanks for posting the pages

Agreed, I was hoping for non-runflats too but it looks like it might be otherwise.

Correct. Summer performance tires. And they are rfts.

Great to see BMW Canada getting its act together with the "ZED" (Euro delivery) option. Assume no big discount like the USA gets though.

I see what you're saying, but 3.9 would shock the hell out of me. I wouldn't be shocked to see 4.5 or 4.6 though.

What's kind of annoying is weigh emphasize the lightweight 18s only to offset the with the additional weight of RFT's lmao-

I was really hoping there'd be some kind of suspension upgrade....guess not.

Anyone have any info on the curb weight of the 335iS compared to a 335i?

How much heavier would my car be with an LSD in it? And how much lighter would my bank account be paying for it?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Put an LSD in the 335...why, then you've got somethin'.
