CAN errors - where to look for their causes
Gentlemen,
There were some mistakes connected with CAN. The car works well but I wonder where to look for their source ... Can it be any plugs, connections or something? Where in this car to look for potential places where such things can happen? Code: C908 - K-CAN communication: operation wire/controller PT-CAN, Bus off/K CAN Single Wire Operation E18D - CCC Massage failure E184 - CCC Line fault detection K-CAN E444 - Seats Bus cable fault E104 - Instrument cluster/Can low error Sometimes there are errors with the electric coolant pump: 2E83 power, reduced operating and 2E85 the communication. In the BMW service they said that the pump is sometimes jammed and needs replacing. What do you think about it (on the clock 140 000km)? It seems to me that they have nothing to do with each other (Pump/Can). Help me, please find me the right direction of searching to fix it. |

no, they have nothing to do with each other. the CAN errors are not related to the engine at all. But the pump errors means you should probably replace your pump before it fails completely.

how is your electrical troubleshooting ability?
basic ohms and voltage tests and physically inspecting the wires is about all you can do without a scope. |

there are a number of junctions.
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ go there and find the junction locations. those are the first place I would start. |

Hi Topaz, did you figure out what was causing E184? I have the same on my E70 X5 and I'm trying to track down the cause. Using ISTA it says this
CD / M-ASK / CCC / RAD2 / CHAMP -GW: K-CAN line fault. Fault Code: E184 If I reset the codes it comes right back but always shows as "Fault not currently present" but something is triggering it! I've attached a screenshot below. |
