I can't believe that BMW got engine of the year again for this puppy. That is a bit much considering they are still trying to get it right. But then again, what do i know, I am not an automotive expert, i just own the car.

Can anyone tell me what version THAT is. My dealership tells me they don't know the version and that that number is all they can get. Seems stupid that they can't figure it out but I realize that they have better things to do.

I had 30.0.2 with that target data status.

Don't mean to be off topic, but that's an interesting handle you picked there. I was a big fan of the cereal when I was a kid back in the '70's. I was formerly a California resident. At the time, it seemed like a fitting plate for the "other car".

I hear ya ( i wont elaborate further ).

perhaps with all the other customers saying stupid stuff like "my car smells" = any lights on.. no... then try dry cleaning. I hear a thumping noise comming from my car ... well mrs. soandso... I see the problem you rode over a deer and half of it is still attached to your car... didnt you notice the cracked windshield ? No I didnt... i thought i justed needed to get windshield washer.

:mad0260: Lag

Hi,

I have a 07 335 and enjoyed the quick response. I took my car in to get the usb adapter, and alarm installed. I complained about rough idle and they upgraded me. After that the car always seemed to have lag. I thought I was going crazy until I started researching it on the internet.

So far my dealership has not been helpful. They won't acknowledge the change and won't upgrade the software on the car. I have complained about the sluggish behavior on three occasions.

Has anyone tried to confirm the SW versions, and tried to get the upgrade?

Thanks,

Hi guys!
I have sent an email with a complaint to my dealer here in the cold country, snowing now and an strong wind coming in from the Baltic sea. I complained about my 2009 335i wagon with Step not doing what I think it should do comparing to THE 335i 2007 all awarded high priced model all is loving so much. For a month there was no reply at all from the dealer. Then I got a call from the man in charge of the warranty detail telling me the mail was forwarded to BMW in Germany, I guess that would be in Munich southern Germany,Bavaria. Now waiting for them to response. That is interesting to wait for what they might say. Saying to this guy they could upgrade my software to v32* because that was the latest and there was a reason for BMW to make upgrades now and then and I had the upgrade from september, built in 30 september 2008 and why not put that in....I was told that I could not get an update if there was nothing wrong with my car. It would have to be ordered by BMW to get it. I told him why do they upgrade the cars. It must be for some good reason. He only told me to wait and see. I believe my car can have more chili in the latte.Itīs so civilized. Not the brute the world know. The power comes on so smooth most of time. Sometimes it changes behavior and get Mr Hyde. All of the sudden it can suprise me showing another character. Itīs kind of schitzofrenic
Sorry for the bad english!

This link doesn't say anything about the lag. Do we need to complain about the cranking sound from engine area.

I have the same issue where I have lag for few months. Dealer turned me down few times saying there is no issue with the car. This time I want to take somthing written with me so that they have to upgrade.

The updated software causes a small amount of increased "turbocharger lag" under certain circumstances and, while not substantial, the lag may be perceptible to the most sensitive BMW drivers. X6, 135i, 3 Series and 5 Series vehicles from March 2008 production onward are not affected. If said "turbocharger lag" is a customer's complaint, then the vehicle's DME software can be retrofitted to the original waste gate operation.

Its in there.

Smile The car that I originally fell in love with is back!!!

Well my service center finally agreed to revert me back to pre 29 progman. All I have to say is that when I got my car back I knew. The car feels 1000x times better. I don't get that jerky acceleration feeling. The car boosts right from 1500-2000 rpm just like it used to. No more when trying to overpass you say to yourself "Where is that F'ing power that I remember?" Drivability was can I say unpredictable with progman 29. That feeling is now totally gone. I get smooth acceleration all across the board and I love it all over again!! I was starting to get so ticked off that I ever bought the car in the first place but now the power is back and I am going to make sure it is here to stay. I wanted them to update me with the latest and greatest but they don't yet have the hardware to do so and I also have a hint that something may not be quite right with the new update anyway.
I am pretty much lag free and loving it!!!

OK, after the shop foreman at my local dealership ran multiple independent software upgrades on my car last Wednesday, I came out of the dealership with some technical paperwork with large amounts of insertion and program control codes.... and various other forms of unintelligible gobbledygook.

In the report header it did say:

Vehicle data status: E89X-07-03-521
Target data status: E89X-08-09-530

Assuming the information codes on BMW_tech's Progman software integration table are correct that would be a revision change from 25.1.1 to 32.1

So, I'm guessing this is a good thing?

Correct about the versions. If it's a good thing depends on how they updated your car and if you care.

If they updated your car with Progman instead of ISTA or forgot to switch to the lag-fix via the "retrofit" menu of ISTA after the update was finished, you will have the rattle-fix version with a little more lag compared to your pre-v29.2 version.

If you don't have a problem lag-wise, just ignore what I wrote.

Do the new cars (e.g., build date = today+) have v32.1? My dealership said that newly built cars ALWAYS have the most current software version.
