Noob here. What sucks about the ps2? I’ve (so far) read what seems like good things? Granted, a turbo upgrade is not even on my radar atm as I’m focused on ensuring this baby is healthy enough to even handle a stage 1 mhd tune so clearly I’ve missed some in depth posts.

Honestly for the n55 PS2 is more than enough. at about 27psi on E50 im making 495awhp and 554tq on a mustang dyno (arguably 540awhp/590tq dynojet). With a bigger turbo i dont think itll make much of a difference since the stock block can only safely handle a certain amount and i believe most people have said upto about 600whp. Im AWD tho so im not sure if the big single turbo options would do for RWD n55's

After getting a custom tune i realized that regardless of what turbo upgrade i went with (Bigboost, speedtech, docrace) the n55 block doesnt seem to be able to handle as much power as the N54. Correct me if im wrong but i have yet to see a E series n55 making over 600/700whp without building the motor. |

Found this on a speedtech post on ***********s forum. great info for n55 owners.
[ Here is a slightly related comment by Pure about N55 Engines: "We have recently learned some things about the N55 motor. The biggest one that hasn't seemed to make it to the forums yet, is that they appear to be much weaker internally than an N54. I know of 4x N55 motors now, all single turbo cars making 600-650whp, that bent or broke rods. There's only a handful of N55 ST cars around, so that may be a majority of them with broken motors, lol. I'm sure a motor would last for a while with a conservative tune, great fuel, and no mistakes. But unless you want to explore new territory with a built motor, single turbo, etc., the N55 is best with 450-550whp and a simple setup, like PURE Stg2. The stock N55 engine seems to eventually break at the 600+whp level." ] |

N55 e92 AWD top mount
So I have an opportunity to have a local guy who makes awesome kits for n54's make me a custom kit on my n55. Thinking of doing a top mount on my e92 n55 that is xi, was thinking of going precision 6266. What do you guys think of this idea? I know these motors haven't had much experience over 600hp range. seeing as my car/motor only have 40k miles, I don't want it to pop. Really like the idea of a top mount but it just sucks that no body makes them and that the n55 seems to be weak. And if I have him make a custom top mount kit there is no point in showing off a ps2 turbo. Low boost making around 550 worth it? Would be paying around 4500 said and done.

Sold my 6266 , N55E Will not compare in power with the N54 without the proper work. Just went with VTT instead, Going to keep it a decent daily and under the "breaking Limit" as they call it.
