I have read the stock 328i has the connectors for the DISA valves clipped to it but these don't look like whats cut on the the 3-stage manifold. Just need some help on what goes where.
Pic attached.
I think you look fine since most of your current stuff will reattach right up: PCV, Throttle Body, bottom harness, etc. The wires at the top right by the Black and Decker may not even be needed for you (I didn't need it on my 328i LCI). It's mainly a tap source for a couple of things, so if your car doesn't have that wire, its ok -- if it does, connect it. The bottom right is obviously connected to the large DISA...your current wiring will have that cable so you pull that plug out. Make sure to test both DISAs with INPA before you install (You can pull your current wires and test the DISAs BEFORE you install).

The wires at the top were my main point of confusion. They looked to be the same colors as 2 of the 3 wires coming out of the DISAs but I know those are supposed to hook to my cars current wiring clipped to the manifold.
I don't have INPA... or anything else for that matter. Is there another way to test? Maybe by just applying 12v to them? I tested VANOS solenoids that way, but those are only 2 wires.

Thanks for the help.

Another possibly dumb question... I have read conflicting stories as to whether a tune such as Turner/ECS canned tune or a custom tune with ISTA or WinKFP is required to make the car run right with the 3-stage manifold...
Will the car operate the DISAs and see power gains without reflashing the ecu?

No,

It will run but you need a tune.

Why even worry about it, you can visit Bimmerlabs and get what you need for a stock 330 tune. No hassle and really low cost.

Just checked out Bimmerlabs site....

So I buy a $45 cable from them and download (and learn) WinKFP and just load the 330i tune... hmmm

I learned my way around HPTuners back in the day so maybe this won't be too bad.

Also just saw that remote tuning sessions are only $40... So much better than wasting almost $700 on the Turner stuff from ECS!

Yeah that's how I did it. Their batch-files make WinKFP basically run itself. Make sure to close INPA before running WinKFP, and double check that your USB latency is set as low as it can be; mine likes to default to a higher value for some reason after a while.

For the record, any good cable will work but finding a good one is hit and miss. The Bimmergeeks cables mentioned are really good and are probably the best you can get. There are software differences making this cable more versatile and reliable.

Strongly recommend testing any new setup with INPA to insure your settings are correct before attempting to flash any module.

Well, honestly, you don't even have to know how to use WinKFP. You just have to make sure it was installed to the instructions that bimmerlabs provides. Their .bin files take care of everything, including running the program correctly with the right options.

this.

if your inpa connects it works. My batch file had some file directory issues, but that may have been my machine. They were easy to figure out and once I copied some files where the batch file wanted, it flashed my car flawlessly and with very little user interaction.

I'd also recommend the bimmer geeks cable.

it's real nice not to worry about bricking your DME when you hit the button.

I put an 06 manifold in my 08 and it dropped right in. connectors were the same.
PCV was different, but it loks like you've got the dual input one, so your PCV should just hook up.

plan on the PCV stuff breaking, and either order replacements now, or make new stuff using rubber hose.

I used rubber hose, because they don't make a hose to take the plastic valve cover to the single PCV on my early intake.

where you be in ohio.
I'm in ashland.
and we can take a manifold off and flash your car in about 3 hours.

I within the last year all the pcv stuff has been replaced. BMW dealership did the recall work on the pcv heater and hvac blower motor wiring (so now my car wont catch fire) I just replaced the valve cover also due to blocked crank case vent. I broke the brand new PCV hose in the process

nsjames, I'm near Youngstown.

I have a 2011 328i xDrive and I gathered all the parts for the 3 stage intake manifold upgrade. The 3 stage intake manifold has the oil separator and so I sourced all the related hoses. My mechanics install the intake manifold with the oil separator, he even connected the oil separator output to the oil pan. Now, I am getting a check engine light because the 328i does not recognize that oil separator. Does anyone have experience on this?

That is not needed for a 328.

Thanks. So the oil separator is not needed for the 328i?

nope. Never had one from the factory... no point trying to install one. which vehicle was the intake manifold from?

My one was from a 5 series and it had it. Don't remember if the 330 had it or not.

It *has* an oil separator. But the 328i has it built into the valve cover, rather than being externally mounted.

The 330i and 325i have the external CCV system. So do all 2006 N52 powered cars.

Just installed my 3 stage manifold today. It was a breeze. 2.5 hrs with breaks for water, a forum search, and washing hands.
