CALI guys; what are you doing to pass smog?
Hello, i was just wondering what are you guys doing to pass smog here in California/So Cal? What are our options? Usually with my MR2, i would just do the dirty over the phone. But what about these newer cars? Do they have to plug it into the OBD2 port etc? Do you guys remove your downpipes and exhaust, then smog? Or.... I was gonna do the downpipe fix, but i don't think it'll help me anymore. I don't need to smog until August, but i was just curious on how you guys do it, thank you.
My mods are: Downpipes, full exhaust, JB4, intake, intercooler, etc. |

New test doesn't need sniff.
OBDII and checks for CE light off and no faults..

Do you guys think secondary deletes are ok? I still have stock DP's but have a DP-back exhaust.

Got mine smoged a few weeks ago and it is just obd2 and visual. I still put everything back to stock just to be on the safe side but I left the intercooler on since I didnt think they would notice. Now I just need to find the time to put all the parts back on.

I let my wife take it because the CE light comes on less when she drives it. We have some funky Vanos error that even the dealer hasn't been able to diagnose/fix. All the rest is stock.

JB4, Intake, Intercooler and vanguard exhaust (secondary cat deleted). I put the JB4 on map zero and it will allow OBD2 readiness.
But since you have downpipes you need the DP fix in order for the CEL to be off and keep your the OBD2 in readiness since the o2 sensors will keep throwing a code without cats or a DP fix. |

You can not just delete the code and go in. The reason it pops up every 50 miles is because it take about that many miles for the O2 sensors to accurately report and show readiness.
