Hey Will - good to see you here. How many of you guys are coming down for the event? I only see that Prem registered so far...but the list may not be completely up to date.

Thx Longboarder. I am hoping to convince our full staff to attend the
event. Plus we have a few customers that will be joining our caravan
and racing at Shift Sector.

Yea I'll ask Rob and see if any of them have registered yet. If you want you can add Rob and his red rocket Z06 to our little list on the front page.

Are most of you staying at the SoCal hotel? I wanted to meet up and have a few beers with you guys. I'm not sure if the Vishnu crew is staying at the NorCal hotel so I am waiting to book.
I'm trying to stay where the party is at!

Ok yeah I saw Robert has already registered so I'll add him to the list. Damn his car is a beast.

I am staying both nights (Fri, Sat) at teh SoCal hotel location. That's likely where most of the people will be staying.

Shift S3ctor Organized By Horsepower

Anyone want to speculate how the HP vs Torque will play out at Shift S3ctor? I see a few good races between classes in the 400 and 500 hp cars. Can't wait to see Prem smoke Adam Bullock's 600 hp M3... LOL For those who don't know, Prem is running a Single Turbo 335 AT and it's no joke... He would more than likely give the 700 hp M3's a run for their money considering the nasty torque curve his car has.

I'm actually curious why they ask for crank HP. I imagine every single car attending only has wheel HP data, so it's all just guesstimates if you ask me.

Both Days
08 e92 335i
Mods: JB4 FBO+Meth (Will have RBs installed by then)
WHP: 420(will update after RBs)

All paid up and ready to go!

Question:
Will there be dead stop 1/2 mile races as well if both parties agree? Or is it only roll on?

Guys: DLSJ5 has volunteered to do a lot of the video editing for Shift-S3ctor. He is putting together the videos like the ones you have seen posted here and other on the 'net after the event. He will also be putting something together for Bimmerpost so I will be helping him collect all your vids from the event.

I will be there both days with a thumb drive + laptop and can collect your run footage there or you can email me then or later. Just make sure to remember the mods of cars you ran against. I know a lot of you have a GoPro but if you don't...no worries...you can get very inexpensive ($5) inside window mounts for your iPhone that do the job.

We already know that on a half-mile roll-on the most significant factor is HP to weight ratio. Torque doesn't matter as much because the cars are already rolling. The torque curve between 0-5,000 RPM is irrelevant because you are going to start in 2nd gear at around 45mph.

Yes I do think Prem will beat me but it will be because he will be making more peak HP than me. We both learned from the previous events to sandbag a bit on the crank HP rating. We will both be making closer to 600 wheel HP but I have a feeling he will be making a lot more and his car is lighter. But...as Prem knows, in the past I've beaten him in our 335's when he was making quite a bit more power...so I have to admit that a little strategy doesn't hurt

Man I can't wait... We'll have to go play... Hopefully I can get you from the dig so you can play catchup... Last time I was in the Bay, I didn't get a chance to see his car so I'm looking forward to visiting.

Yeah, hopefully with the new firmware and meth I can jack my timing up a bit more. Would like to see 450 on the Mustang... You know what the means..

Don't let Drew do the editing...That guy thinks he does it for a living or something.

Although we can go from a dig, it's really hard to coordinate. I tried it a couple times at Big Willow and did the 3-honk and totally botched the start both times. Once against xtyper and the other against Jeef. My normal 0-60 times on my VBox were in the mid to high-3's with the 335 and did 4.1 against xtyper and 4.8 against Jeef.

On that note, my M3 seems to be a ringer. My first 0-60 pass on my VBox was yesterday in the heat with debris on the road and tires that aren't even broken in and my launch control isn't even enabled until 1,200 miles (currently have about 650) and I short shifted at 8,000 RPM in first...and I hit 4.2 seconds. With practice and better conditions I should be in the 3.7 - 3.9 sec range stock. Even with the blower launching is simple because there is very little torque increase until about 4,500 RPM. Should be good for mid to low 3 sec 0-60 launches.

A better start for us would be in 2nd gear at like 30 mph. I would be down 200 WTQ at that point...and so you would instantly pull 2-3 cars and then it would be a game of catch up...and how long does it take a 600 WHP car to catch a 450 WHP car with the lead?

Window mounts to record 1080p video with your iPhone 5's

I will be bringing my camera and some film equipment down as well, I'd love to shoot some stuff on my mark ii then Download it to your computer for your video if that's something you'd wanna do?

Right on. Have you purchased the RB's yet??

You can run however you want...but as I discussd above ^^ going from a dead stop is tough to coordinate. You may want to have a third person do an arm-drop Pink's style.

Point well taken... Hopefully we'll get the chance to go head to head... Then I can cry in my beer later that night about how I need a single turbo upgrade... LOL
