There are several sites that look official and charge a fortune. The official site is:
https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/

It's in English. Some details from the site.

"It costs €3.70 plus postage. For shipments in the European Union and Switzerland, this amounts to € 4.8.

Your registration certificate must be up-to-date, and be sent as an attachment.

The attachment must be in .pdf, .png or .jpeg format and must not exceed 400kB.

It is possible to add a second attachment.

The Air Quality Certificate will be sent to the address you indicate, after verification of the atachment."

If you haven't already applied do it NOW! Should you be caught without one the fine is eye watering.

yeah been looking, seems it takes 2 weeks for a confirmation email to arrive and 6 weeks for the sticker lol

surely i'll get an email or something though... but i think it takes time to check your vehicle or something.... i'll look into it, cheap enough to pay it and screen shot the payment page or something... i have off road parking just inside the "ring" and will be using public transport when i'm there....

Thanks for your help

The 2 week delay is if you go through an intermediary site.

Use the link to the official site that I posted. You'll get two emails by return, the first acknowledging your application, the second containing a PDF attachment detailing your order (facture). Print the PDF and take it with you - it contains all the sticker details etc.

I advise you to carry all relevant documentation, keep one yellow safety waistcoat inside the car (not the boot) but I wouldn't be concerned about a breathalyser or headlight masking. If stopped they will want to see your licence, V5, and certificate of insurance.

Try not to speed, the fines get quite heavy. Also, above a certain excess speed they ban you there and then, and if you're way too fast they can confiscate your car. Just saying.

Great info thank you
what about a bulb kit? apparently thats a thing you need too. a kit for a car with xneon would be stupid!

i get a plastic wallet together and stick it in the glove box.

i have my first email through (went through the proper site you listed, thank you) which is the confirm of order and has my reg and reference on it, so at least i have something if the second email is slow...

i'll probably just cruise control the speed 130km/h on the motor way in places according to google. or what ever it says, save on fuel and take in the views.

Going to book tickets on the "big red bus" friends have said thats a good cheap way to see the main sites and easy to use.

Standard bulb kit is fine as that's all I took.

When did the air quality certificate thing come in?

We went in October and didn't do this but didn't speed and drove through most of Paris centre including parking up etc. Didn't have any issues at all.

Driving in the centre itself is quite cool if you like the serious craziness of no lane discipline lol.

I take it that if you've got xenons you also have LED indicators, rear lamps etc. in which case forget the bulb kit (there isn't one). BMW recommend using front fogs if a headlamp goes.

I can't remember when the air quality thing came into being in Paris, but it's expanding from city to city. You'll probably never be challenged but I always try to keep things as legal as possible, on the basis that if I'm pulled for say going too fast, if everything is as it should be I stand a better chance of getting away with a slap on the wrist. And if it's a day of high pollution they will be checking the air quality stickers.

the sticker is only the cost of a cup of coffee so thought it wont arrive in time but i have confirmation of at least trying, like you say, less to get pulled on.

i'll leave the bulb "kit" i'm sure i have a spare fog light bulb kicking around under the boot anyway.

Did you say you're going for cheap cigarettes?

Belgium is cheaper! Just nip across the border.

Don't forget your shopping bags! You can only buy "bags for life" in Carrefour.
