Someone explain CPO extended warannty to me?

Hi, I just bought a 2010 CPO from a bmw dealer and the warranty would expire next year (2014). But I am reading that all CPO cars comes with extended 100k miles warranty. Can someone explain this for me? I am a bit confused. Thanks.

The CPO warranty takes over when the factory warranty expires and covers the car for 6 years from the in-service date or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Depending on when your car was first purchased, the CPO warranty should be good until sometime in 2015 or 2016. I didn't know this until I had a CPO repair done on my car, but there's a $50 fee each time you get CPO warranty work done.

So you mean when my factory expires in 2014, I will then start to get the extended CPO warranty for 6yrs or 100k miles which ever comes first?

Also does CPO covers all the stuff that's covered in the factory warranty?

Thanks.

Technically CPO warranty is only an addition 2 yrs and 50,000 more miles. It's a 6 year total from the IN-SERVICE DATE which is when the original first took ownership of the vehicle not when YOU did.

CPO DOES not comprehensively cover everything your 4yr/50k factory warranty does. It won't cover squeaks/rattles from the dash or suspension, light bulbs, batteries, interior trim pieces/discoloration and various other items. But for about 80% of engine/transmission/electrical/mechanical malfunctions CPO will cover with a mere $50 deductible that is owed at the end of the service. Your best bet is to bring in the car with more than one issue that way you get your $50 worth. If you have 10 repairs done or 1 repair you still owe the $50.
